so, you folks goin to the land that mickey built, can i have a loan, i'd like to buy a haus

:)

i can't believe how expensive that place was...like i said, haven't been there in ferever, but i remember thinkin "sheesh, it wasn't quite this expensive in the 80's"

anyways..a quick search turned up these veganny things in disneyland

Disneyland:

Bengal Barbecue, in Adventureland

- Vegetarian shishkabob (vegan) consists of skewered potato, mushroom,

squash, bell pepper, and onion. Also have big pretzels and a fruit

plate (which comes with a container of yoghurt). "Quite tasty, and

there's no lines."

River Belle Terrace, entrance in Adventureland and Frontierland

- Vegetable stew (vegan) served in a bread bowl (unsure if vegan).

Ville Verde, at Disneyland Hotel

- Some of the homemade pasta is eggless. Fettuccine with roasted

vegetables (eggplant, onion, squash and tomato) is vegan if ordered

without pesto sauce. The basil and tomato angel hair pasta is also

vegan.

Goofy's Kitchen

- Buffet with plenty of vegan food. Vegan dinner items: French rolls,

eggless pasta, marinara sauce, lots of incredible fruits, salad,

juices. Vegan breakfast items: potatoes (fried in vegetable oil with

onions and green peppers), bagels, and lots of incredible fruits.

The cost of the buffet is about $14 per person, but the food was

delicious and filling.

Street vendors

- Churros contain eggs. Popcorn is popped in vegetable oil.

There are some vegan Disneyland options!

I'm sorry I didn't see this post sooner! My bf and I go to Disneyland quite frequently, and while there aren't tons of vegan things, it's not hopeless either. There is a menu book at City Hall where you can check ingredients for things, and last time we checked, the veggie burgers (available but not advertised at Village Haus and Hungry Bear) and buns were vegan. There was even a vegan entree at the Blue Bayou, a really good Portobello mushroom with mashed potatoes. (Note that we haven't been there for months so I don't know if things have changed.)

I believe the vegetable gumbo in New Orleans Square is vegan, and you can get a vegetable sandwich at the Carnation Cafe on Main Street (if you get them to leave off the cheese and mayo).

There was some pasta dish we could eat at the lovely remodeled Plaza Inn. I seem to remember there was a problem with stuff at the pasta place in Tomorrowland--can't remember if it was cheese in the sauce or what.

The best place to eat is unfortunately being remodeled so it's closed now: Casa Mexicana, where they have veggie beans and so you can get a nice taco salad or burrito. Also, there are some places in the hotels where you can get vegan food.

Basically, Disney folks are committed to pleasing the guests, so are happy to make any inquiries you need or make adaptations. They don't have soy milk at the coffee places, but one cast member said sometimes people bring it in so they can get soy lattes; we may do that on our next trip.

This is too late to help the original poster, but hopefully it'll help someone else!

you're right - it is expensive. But we are feeling the (emotional)

pinch of kids who will be off to college in a few short years...and

we want to do stuff with them.

thanks for the food info. the veggie kabobs would be perfect for

both vegan and celiac. it should be an interesting trip.

that sounds wunderbar

Anyway, it's times like these that really make your day when you're

vegan. I called the manager the next day and told him how awesome that

chef was for making me a fabulous vegan breakfast. :)

Hi,

I have to just share an experience I had in Disneyland last October. I

did a bunch of research before I went there with my family because I

was terrified of being stuck in Disneyland for three days and having

to live on bread and Clif Bars. I found a lot of the same info you

post below, which me feel a little better. The first morning we were

there my parents, brother and sis-inlaw, nieces, and boyfriend went to

the PCH Grill. They had NOTHING I could eat there, except bagels

(surprise surprise). So I asked one of the chefs if they could just

grill some vegetables for me. I explained that I'm vegan. He told me

to wait a moment. He came back with one of the chef's in the back and

he said to me " Tell me what you would like. I can make anything for

you. How about some banana nut pancakes with fresh berries on top and

some potatoes on the side? " I was incredulous!! He told me is other

job was as a chef at a vegetarian restaurant and that his wife is

vegan so he was very experienced in cooking vegan meals. And I will

tell you, those were THE BEST pancakes I have ever had. And they were

huge. I could only finish a third of them. It was a great start to my

Disneyland adventure. Albeit none of the meals I had after that were

as good!

Anyway, it's times like these that really make your day when you're

vegan. I called the manager the next day and told him how awesome that

chef was for making me a fabulous vegan breakfast. :)
