Guest guest
>i lived off vegan turkish bread and veggies during parts of >europe... Excellent advice ;=) We do the same when we can. Turkey is a bit of a challenge because of the yoghurt, but with a little ingenuity one can eat well. Around touristy parts of anywhere, of course, you'd be hard pressed *not* to find an English speaker. Guest guest
>What do you mean when you say that Turkey is a bit of a challenge because of the yogurt??? Sorry, Perhaps it isn't, just seemed so to us. When we were there we were not trying to follow a vegan diet but we did remark that we could eat well as *vegetarians* if we made a meal out of first courses - ie appetizer courses - rather than mains, sticking to the veggie selections of course. *But* many had yoghurt, it seemed (and also egg, but I digress). I'm sure you could find lots without. The falafal too sometimes had a dairy sauce . . . but maybe that wasn't Turkey but somewhere else . . . Sorry, we were only there once and only for about ten days so I'm hardly an expert on the country. My only other experience with the cuisine is *outside* the country, which of course is a less reliable indicator. In any case, I believe you were thinking of Egypt . . .. Best luck, Pat ;=) ===== psybermus LISTS: townhounds/ / vegetarianslimming/ HOMEPAGE: http://www.angelfire.com/art/pendragon/ ---- Mail is new and improved - Check it out!
