Guest guest
Hi Craig I must admit that if I had been asked which country eats more meat I would automatically think of North America - hamburgers and all that! Guest guest
Vegetararianism incease in britain when mad cow disease was around and more so when foot and mouth reappeared. The number of veggie restaurants have increased and there are more veggie foods in the shops..that is a sigh of an increase here. Guest guest
Hi Craig I haven't seen any figures - but when we have been in France and Germany it was difficult to find vegan food in restaurants, and in Bavaria it was impossible. Guest guest
we shouldn't confuse quantity with saturation in French cooking they use meat and meat products in everything but they still serve plenty of veggies (just covered in butter yewwll) hence the vegan issue I think the figures I read come from commercial meat slaughtered not cuisine I think Germany was high on the list too but there really wasn't allot of difference in ranking between number 1 meat eaters and number 20 meat eaters. I will endeavour to find my source see if I can shed some better light on this all the best Craig Jo [Heartwork]Monday, July 05, 2004 3:43 AM Subject: Re: Vegetarianism/Europe Hi Craig I haven't seen any figures - but when we have been in France and Germany it was difficult to find vegan food in restaurants, and in Bavaria it was impossible. Guest guest
I lived in South America for a year (in Chile) and while I don't have statistics, I definitely remember that they eat far less meat than North Americans.
