Guest guest
Hiya Vijay welcome to the group, I think most of us in our own way promote Veganism everyday I just took a group of omnivores to a wine tasting day. the wine is vegan the meal that was serve to us was vegan they all loved it and everybody bought several cases of wine don't know if I converted them but at least they are open to the fact that eaten vegan is more than lawn cuttings and sawdust. rather than push the ethical or health side of Veganism to people I have taken the environmental approach. that seems to effect everyone and I just try to get them to cut down to help the environment. all your thought are great keep it up..throw out the cheese and honey =o]] lol all the best Craig What do you think of this idea for promoting Vegetarianism ? Each of us goes to two online message boards/groups that we are familiar with/ participate regularly then start a discussion about Vegetarianism/ Veganism. All opinions must be welcome and replied in a friendly and professional manner. This can be done twice a year or sometimes even once every three months. All vegetarians/vegans must do as much as possible in this regard. Please share your comments/suggestions. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi - I'm new here too, though I'm recognizing a few names from other groups. I've been vegan for about 2 1/2 years now, I think. It's recent enough that I can remember the carnivorous days, and know that back then, there was nothing I found less appealing than a vegan or vegetarian trying to persuade me their way was right. I knew it was right, I just didn't think I could do it! Much more effective were my veg. friends whi didn't try to persuade, just made clear by example that it didn't have to be so difficult and intimidating, and answered questions when I started to ask them, without pushing or judging me. So, I feel very strongly that that's the best way to " promote " vegetarian or veganism - by availability and example. How is veganism and environmentalism connected ? Any sites in this regard would be welcome. Perhaps maybe I saw, but recollection would help. You are correct in that several still abuse vegetarians. So, things have to be done very smoothly. Constantly testing the waters/taking the temperature is a good strategy. Vijay
Guest guest
Vijay, try www.peta.org to start but the way in which being a vegan helps the enviro is simple the average western person consumes somewhere between 70-100 farmed animals a year (mostly chicken) Chicken and pork are factory farmed in just about every western country. not to mention the dairy industry. fish well... the numbers don't make since the tonnage caught etc.. I don't have that at my disposal but it was something like 250 fish per person per year are caught in the ocean. those numbers must be collapsing the food chain in the ocean. anyway the more vegans the less animals killed or raised on FACTORY farms. the better off the planet is. that's it in a nut shell off to work all the best Craig rvijay07 [rvijay07]Saturday, July 03, 2004 7:27 AM Subject: Re: Promoting Vegetarianism. , "Craig Dearth" <cd39@e...> wrote:> I have taken the environmental approach. that seems to effect everyone and I> just try to get them to cut down> to help the environment. How is veganism and environmentalism connected ?
