Guest guest
Hi Cath, The Pengam Pagan Priestess with a filofax?!?!?!?!?!!? Keeping the date of the vernal equinox in it, along with the trees contact details? The mind boggles ( well mine does anyway.......frequently) Why not save up for an electronic organiser/palmtop gizmo thingy?- what a grasp of technology eh? surely they must be slightly more vegan than a leather filofax? Guest guest
Depends what you call expensive. My Palm Tungsten E was little over £100. I wouldn't be without it. Guest guest
There is no answer to the first part of your question as it does everything you would expect from an organizer and more. It happily accepts Word and Excel documents (excluding macros) via the included software so they can be updated while you are away from the computer then will update the computer versions once you plug it in and push the button. You can buy an upgrade to the software that also reads Access and PowerPoint if you need that. Because I felt so good about the price, I bought an £80 512MB RAM card to plug into it so that I can listen to MP3s or watch video as well. Takes some time to convert and transfer, but if you do that overnight it's another otherwise dull lunchtime put to bed. :-) The only criticism I have of it, is of its organizer function which only appears to run to 6pm, though if you put something in at 6pm, then 7pm appears so it may either be possible to cheat it by keep adding bogus entries or perhaps it's something I've not found out how to do yet. This is something I've meant to email them about as most of my diary entries accur after 6pm. I can remember to go to work - on a good day. :-) But effectively, it's a computer in your hand, and at the price I just know my mind would have boggled back in 1982 when I first got into computers. If you can do it on a computer, you can probably do it on the Palm. I've not tried Email as that requires linking it to a mobile and I have a perfectly good computer at home for that, but it can do it if you have the right phone on their list. As for the best to buy, how long is a piece of string? I wouldn't go for one of the budget £25 things, as they are just hi-tech (sic) address books, but after looking at the options I got the Tungsten E from Palm because its price and potential ratio was very good, and I could afford it. I would have rather bought the model up with a widescreen, but maybe in a couple of years, huh? Such is life. Basically, work out what you want from it, work out what you can afford, then get the best that covers your needs within your price range. Guest guest
Hi Cath, Bargoed is still in the land that time forgot!, only now seems that it is dying on its feet, more small shops closing, only things left seem to be either fast food/chip shops, or solicitors! ...who needs either eh? Talking of Tesco in Ystrad, they have stopped selling Swedish Glace ice cream! the barbarians, I now have to venture to Blackwood Asda to buy it. Good news is Green & Blacks chocolate seems to be on sale in small bars size everywhere now, train stations, Boots etc. So can`t complain.... Hope you pluck up enough courage to dip your toe in the sea at Aberystwyth.
