Guest guest
What is the best way to make sure you are getting the right amounts of vitamins, etc? My diet is mainly vegetarian with no dairy and since I'm a woman, I worry about calcium and things like that. I take a standard multivitamin daily and also a calcium/D supplement. I try to eat well, when I can but I'm extremely busy and don't usually have enough time or energy to ensure that my diet is balanced. Any advice? As long as you are eating a well balanced diet, then you should be gettin enough of most things. The ones to watch out for are vitamins B12 and D... as long as you spend a little time outdoors each day, you should get enough vitamin D from sunlight. Personally, I eat foods that have been fortified with B12 to make sure I get enough of that, but supplements are also fine. Yuo shouldn't have trouble with Calcium - just eat nuts! :-) BB Peter
Guest guest
lol...probably. i used to love milk, but luckily for me it wasn't all that hard to give up when i found out it was one of the things making me sick. also, while i really like the 8th continent stuff, i found a brand of soy milk (i think it's sun soy) that tastes exactly like 2% milk... for anyone who likes the taste of it out there.. , " Craig Dearth " <cd39@e...> wrote: > sorry to say > you sound like you have been influenced by milk commercials > the supplements should be plenty > BUT... that is assuming you do your best to eat a balanced when you can > all the best > Craig > > silvertree173 [stellarlunar77] > Sunday, August 01, 2004 9:12 AM > > Vitamins, minerals, etc. > > > What is the best way to make sure you are getting the right amounts of > vitamins, etc? Guest guest
Hi Silvertree (should we call you Silvertree or something else?) > Hi Peter: mmm, almonds are good, but i definitely don't get enough > sunlight! i'm dark-haired but as pale as they come. what kinds of > foods contain B 12? I get my dose of B12 by having a bowl of Kellog's Cornflakes with Plamil every morning (actually, that contains way more B12 than is needed, but it's not something you can overdose on!) It depends on where you are... if you're in America, I don't think Kellogs Cornflakes are vegan, but they are in the UK, and if you're in the US, you won't have Plamil as they're a small English Co-operative, but I'm sure there will be other soya milks and the like which are fortified with B12. Often stuff that is fortified with B12 is also fortified with vitamin D2 which is a vegan version of vitamin D... just check the nutritional info on the packs, and it should tell you all you need to know. :-) BB Peter
Guest guest
Hi I think we're probably all the same - too busy to be able to eat properly all the time. We usually take supplements as well, as an insurance policy. I hope that formula works.
