Once people gaveup meat I thought that they stayed this way. There seems to be a lot of relapse. Perhaps we can start by discussing the reasons why one becomes vegan/vegetarian and then reverts back to meat eating. I am very ignorant about this and info. in this regard will be a great learning experience for me. Thanks. Vijay
Guest guest
everything is a learning experience, tis it not? and..thats why we be here.... i think.... personally, i don't UNDERSTAND why anyome would go back to not caring/being a carnivore..but..like we said..ppl have diff. reasons for going veg...and sometimes those reasons don't ring true for them anymore, er they think differently, er wotever.. fraggle rvijay07 Sep 10, 2004 8:34 AM Re: Anyone Left Veganism/Vegetarianism ? , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote:>Wow !!! Guest guest
Somebody at work was entirely vegan from birth until she was 27. She then met somebody who thought she should taste meat to see what she thought of it, and she did. She has eaten all sorts of meat and milk, likes cream and cheese. I suppose the ethics were her parents and not hers. It made me feel sad though, because most of us had wished we had been raised as vegans. Guest guest
I know a couple of people who say that they used to be veg (-an or -etarian) and have gone back to eating meat. The usual reasoning is "it's too hard" or "I missed eating meat/dairy/whatever". When I hear that, I wonder what made them go veg in the first place. If it was from an ethical standpoint, I can't believe they'd change back. I assume many people "go veg" for a little while because they think it's the hip thing to do, find out they can't eat frozen dinners all the time, then quit. Then again, I have a friend who likes to tell people he's vegetarian although he eats poultry and seafood... !!! You're not vegetarian, mate! ~z - rvijay07 Friday, September 10, 2004 5:27 AM Anyone Left Veganism/Vegetarianism ? This absolutely drives me crazy. But such people do exist !!! Best to test them, see if they are truly Vegetarian. If they are not, one wonders what other definitions they twist ? I rather prefer a meat eater who is honest about it. Vijay

Things like this is what I am beginning to run up against most of the time locally here in Montreal, Canada. Also, I get cornered as there is just one off me and so many of them. Maybe it is just my circle. However, in regards to the exact thing like chicken being Vegetarian, this happened to me in India. We are Hindu, Brahmins. It is AGAINST OUR BELIEFS to eat meat. I got this chicken thing on my face when I visited India a few years ago, at the dinner table of one of my relatives !!! The false fact that eating meat is hype is spreading to quite a few Indians sadly. Sometimes, I wish there was a support group in person to beat sense into them right then and there. Guest guest
Hi Vijay: I did just that about 5 years ago. I had been vegetarian in college and then when I moved out and got my first apartment I went back to eating meat- first it was chicken, then it was burgers, and finally, seafood. I switched back to vegetarianism 9 months ago, dropped dairy 6 mos ago, and stopped eating eggs 2 or 3 mos ago. I'm not completely vegan but I feel far more healthy now than I did when I ate meat and now I cannot understand whatever possessed me to start eating it again. I have also been much more healthy as a vegetarian- I made it through the entire winter, spring and summer without a cold. I've got one now though ;o( , rvijay07@m... wrote: > Does anyone here know someone who was a Vegan/Vegetarian and started eating meat again ?
