Guest guest
I'm making sweet gbreads. I have a bunch to make over the weekend. I don't make roll out cookies too often, they are fun though. Guest guest
I love christmas baking! My sister & I always bake cookies together and usually her son too; he's 8. We usually do a sugar cookie so we can roll them & use the cookie cutters and a more grown-up cookie. Last year my nephew had the brilliant idea of painting the raw cookies with food coloring before baking and they turned out beautiful. We used Q-tips to paint with. My share of the cookies goes in little bags for my neighbors with some satsumas too. This year the grown up cookie will be Oatmeal White Chocolate & Macadamia Chips with Spicy Spiked Cranberries (new recipe to me, not tried yet). Plus I bake kringles and this year, my mom has promised to teach me to make my great-aunt Anna's kolaches (a Czech pastry). I hope you have a good time baking Kenia; it's the best part of the holiday for me (sister time + kitchen fun!) Put on some good music and just have fun. Guest guest
I've made 2 kinds of Danish spice cookies which have no egg and are like little nuggets. I made (hahaha) a ginger spice (gingerbreadish) rolled into a ball cookie that didn't hold it's shape but is omg delicious. And a cornmeal-cranberry cookie that gets shaped into a 2x8 log, chilled then sliced. Mmmmmm. So far that's it. Gotta do the thumbprints before my kids hang me. I usually do a batch of the rolled & cut ( & frosted...) just because I feel like I need to. More effort than i care to put into baking, imo. But the kids are happy & i use up my OCD supply of royal icing, lol. Bethie kenia <mistressofthedishes wrote: Was wondering what's being baked for the holidays? I'm going to try my hand at rolled and cut out cookies, using the rolling pin and cookie cutters, frosting them and everything. I don't do this style of baking so everyone wish me luck. Guest guest
You know what I was thinking of doing the same thing! I have never made homemade cookies like this and I think it'll be fun for the kids. They do the baking with me, but the decorating is something they can do hands on w/o a lot of supervision :0) I'm going to bring cookies to the shelter where I work so we'll be making LOTS! Guest guest
You can check out what I've made so far here: http://www.zenpawn.com/vegblog/2006/12/09/holiday-gift-baking/ I also plan on making some oatmeal cookies for Friday's party at work. They are ordering from a local catering place, so there will be plenty of decidedly non-vegan brownies and cookies. I want to make sure I have something sweet as well. And, of course, will make plenty to share. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , kenia <mistressofthedishes wrote: > > Was wondering what's being baked for the holidays? > I'm going to try my hand at rolled and cut out > cookies, using the rolling pin and cookie cutters, > frosting them and everything.
