Guest guest
Why is it that breads free of egg/milk products are so expencive? Its frustraiting that the alternitive foods cost so much. Weather your vegan by choice or because of allergies, you shouldnt have to pay 3 times more just to eat. Anyone know of any good alternitives to saving on bread costs? Im a college student who works part time and im on assistance. Sometimes i think im expected to live off of KD (wich i cant eat) and canned food (wich is gross half the time). Chantelle -- It does hurt, I know. Kindness and caring, love, kind of melts all those defences and then all the hurt and need comes up and it HURTS. It's natural to want to keep those feelings down, and the defenses up. That's why it's easier to try to make people hate us. We can cope with people beign angry with us or whatever, but kindness just cuts through all those walls. ~ Para... Faith, no matter what we believe in is an important motivator in life. There are reasons why something is the way it is, though we dont always know why. Problems are never a way to punish us, sometimes they are a way of making us better and stronger, more compasionate and knowlegable people inside. We may worry, we may feel down on the world but we must always remember that faith is what brings us together and that god, no matter what we call him or her has not punnished us, only trusted us with an extra special gift. ~ Me
Guest guest
Chantelle, There are a few reasons why health food bread costs more. One is economies of scale. It is much more efficient and cost effective for producers to make and distribute huge quantities vs. small quantities. Also the ingredients in health foodbread are usually better ingredients and cost more. They do not have as many preservatives or none at all so they have higher loss or cost more to refrigerate. Also the health food sections in stores have higher profit margins so they cost more. Groceries are not that altruistic and have health food sections just for a few " health food nuts " . Those sections are some of the highest profits per square foot in groceries. If you want something cheaper, I would go to a 2nd hand store and get a used bread maker. You can make any kind of bread you want. GB , " Chantelle McLaren " <Catfuzz.Caliby wrote: > > Why is it that breads free of egg/milk products are so expencive? Guest guest
Christmas is almost upon us so ask for a bread maker and make your own bread. Bread makers can be gotten very cheaply, some second hand stores even have them. I bought a crock pot at St.Vincent's for $5, that had never been used. I started making my own bread again, not being a student and short of cash I bought a Bosch bread mixer which is so wonderful for kneading whole wheat bread. Guest guest
I had a bread maker, and I gave it away. I loved it, it was my creepy family that would ask me, after sitting down to my fresh made loaf, " Can't we get the Italian bread from the deli? " I hate them. hugs, Chanda - Carol Monday, December 11, 2006 6:42 PM Re:store bought vegan breds... semi rant Christmas is almost upon us so ask for a bread maker and make your own bread.
