Guest guest
Is a Plantano the same thing as a Plantain? Judy - Alyssia Try adding some long-wise slices of Plantano about 10 or 15 min before a bean dish is finished. Guest guest
Judy Try sauteeing them in a fruit juice. I tend tws Dole's Peach mango Orange combo 90% of the time as I love it for cooking. Sauteeing is much healthier than frying and you avoid the oxidation process you get with any type of oil. If you must fry .... unrefined coconut oil I believe has the highest tolerence to heat. Olive has the fewest poly-unsaturates vs. mono-unsaturates. The otthers such as conola, safron, etc I do not even purchase. In addition to their being a poor oil to uses, they are all refined. The neutrients are removed and enough E is replacesd to keep them from going rancid in the bottle. The E is not necessarily q natural form either. - " wwjd " <jtwigg Sunday, December 17, 2006 5:44 PM Re: Re: Question - alyssia > Thanks. Guest guest
I love the Dole Peach, Mango, Orange Juice combo too. Thanks for that suggestion. ;Peanut oil also has a high temp it will take before smoking. I look for the Smart Balance Cooking Oil. It has no transfats and is the hydrogenated oil. Guest guest
Both are Non Hydrogenated. Both taste wonderful. Smart Balance has a whole line of products, from " buttery " spreads(which I use in baking all the time), spray liquid Smart Balance, for use on corn, etc, cooking oil, baking spray, etc. Enjoy, Judy - Rachel Lucas Tuesday, December 19, 2006 7:50 AM Re: Re: Question - alyssia Oh I thought that was EARTH Balance. Guest guest
My favorite is Smart Balance with flaxseed oil. Comes as close to butter as anything I've ever tasted. Only thing I use as a spread and in baking. TM Both are Non Hydrogenated. Both taste wonderful. Smart Balance has a whole line of products, from " buttery " spreads(which I use in baking all the time), spray liquid Smart Balance, for use on corn, etc, cooking oil, baking spray, etc. Enjoy, Judy ______________________ Check out the new AOL.
