Well

Greese sort of does also ...

Except their " Lasagna Noodle " looks more like thin slices of eggplant that

seperates the layers of ground lamb.... [poor little guy].

I have made a great moosaka (moo'-sa-ka ... not moo-saaaaaka) very vegan

with TVP, lemtals, firm Tofu, potatoes and spices ... nutmeg, cloves,

coreander, allspice..etc.

I will have to make this again and keep track of quanities. I'm a " yittle "

cook. A yittle of this, a yittle of that.

They are really very accommodating, just speak to the waiter or call ahead of

time and they will make sure to have something for you. They are very good

about trying to have something for everyone there and people with allergies too,

so its nothing new for them. They are always trying to make it The Happiest

Place On Earth! :)

A Veggie in Mickey's House

halo. We're heading to Walt Disney World next weekend (Yipee!) and I'm

(of course) concerned about my dining options. I've read all the stuff

online, etc., but I'm looking for " real life " advice. Has anyone been

there as a vegetarina? Advice? Suggestions?

TIA,

Lori

They have Vegetarian Chili in a Bread Bowl that is very good in at least a

couple of places in the park. It's been a couple of years since we were

there(We've been there so many times), but we seemed to find plenty to eat

there. There are pizza, veggie sandwiches/wraps, salads, and more.

Everything is pricy as you might imagine.

We also found good Vegetarian food over at the Wilderness Lodge. Loved the

atmosphere of the Wilderness Lodge too.

Over in the Disney's Contemporary Resort this is one of our very favorite

places to eat. It is a buffet that has excellent food and tons that a

Vegetarian can eat. Disney Characters parade thru, with a disney song playing

every few minutes and they stop and visit with all the dinners. Take your camera

with you, so you can take pictures of your family with them. It is really

fun. You can get to it by the Monorail that goes right into this Resort.

Chef Mickey's Restaurant

buffet offers a wide variety of delicious items for the whole family. Relax as

the monorail quietly zips by overhead and your favourite Disney Characters greet

you at your table as you dine. Special celebration song for all occasions. Call

and make reservations once you get there, or you might not be able to get in.

I am so thrilled you asked this question because we are going in March and I am

so nervous about eating anything there. We are from VT so we can't pack too many

food items for 7 days.

I think my biggest thing will be keeping snacks in the hotel, and

making sure I have stores of protein (almonds, etc. ) on hand. (I know

they have a no-food policy, but my understanding is that it's not too

strictly enforced.

I know too that you can get things like fresh fruit and popcorn for

snacks, but my biggest concern is moderatley priced meals. (My husband

is a...thrifty...omnivore, who loves things like buffets, where I can

get lettuce, pineapple and a stale roll...).

I'll give a full report on my return, beacuse besides being a veg, I

also LIVE for good food, and hope to only have a positively delicious

experience! I know the Mickey won't let me down!!!!

I know your original email said you'd seen everything online, but for

anyone else, and in case you missed this site, here is where you can

find the menus for each restaurant at Disney World:

http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

Be sure to check on the left side, there are links to articles on

vegetarian and vegan dining in the parks.

As for personal experience, my top recommendation for dinner would be

Boma, not located in a park but at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is

absolutely worth the trip. It's a buffet with many vegetarian (and

non) options. Boma also has a breakfast buffet that is also

incredible (the Frunch juice is so good, and they'll bring as much as

you can drink!). The other buffet options will not make you depend on

salad or rolls.

The Tangierine Cafe in the World Showcase portion of EPCOT has a very

good vegetarian platter - it's more of a fast-food place.

If there is somewhere particular you'd like to go, Disney is known

for bending over backwards to accomodate special dietary needs if

there is nothing on the menu - you can speak to the hostess before

you sit, but if you call the restaurant the day before they really

will come up with something special for you.

I've never had any problem at Disney World. I would suggest checking

over the menus online though - it was a surprise that neither the

fast food nor the sit down Mexican restaurants in EPCOT offer any

vegetarian entrees.

Have a great time!

I work at WDW and have never had a problem finding vegetarian dishes

at any restaurant. Most have a vegetarian selection, and if not,

will accomodate you request. Boma is my favorite as well. The

Moroccan full service restaurant at Epcot has a vegetable couscous

dish that is also very good. France also has a vegetarian lasagna

dish. Even the Le Cellier steakhouse in Canada has an vegetarian

offering. Some fast food places in all the parks have veggie

burgers. Tusker House in Animal Kingdom has a hummus sandwich, In

Magic Kingdom, there is a fast food restaurant that has both

vegetarian chili in a sour dough bread bowl and the hummus

sandwich. I could go on and and, so if you have any questions, you

can e-mail ne privately.

I am a veterinary technician at Disney's Animal Kingdom, so between

working with all the beautiful animals and having access to the

parks and all the restaurants at the resorts as well I am pretty

lucky. If you ever visit let me know and I can give you restaurant,

hotel and park visitng tips.

Why does France have a lasagna dish? Did they get mixed up or do they

think we Americans don't know the difference? :>))

we are going to Disney in March we live in VT I would love all info you could

give me especially the cheapest and healthiest bites. I don't have a fortune for

food but don't want the kids to be sick all week because they only ate fast

food. Thanks for all your help. We are vegetarians not vegan.

Not really sure, but it has French cheeses and a French sauce

instead of the traditional italian offering. I've had it a fe time,

and it is very light and very tasty. Surprisingly, the italian

restaurant only has a cheese platter for us vegetarians, but that

does not help a vegan.

On their website you can find something called the dining plan/meal package

where you can purchase ahead of time and so its cheaper over all. You get a

certain amount of things at each meal with the dining plan.

Just get it in your mind now that its expensive there. Even the fast food is

going to cost more, even the ones outside the park. You have to be willing to

pay more there, just the way it is. It sucks, but its better to be prepared

ahead of time.
