I have a recipe. It calls for 1 piece of star anise. I have looked

around town and cannot find any. Does anyone know if I can substitute

fennel seeds or something else?

Thanks

Fennel should be a fine substitute GB; they both have that licorice-y

taste. What are you cooking? :)

Peace,

Diane

Our supermarkets have little bags of it in the International aisle.

It is usually in small white bags of spices near the hispanic foods.

(I only know because I needed ground star anise for a licorice scented

soap I made awhile back.)
