Guest guest
I was lucky enough to find the Silk Soy Eggnog, I have never had any luck making eggless eggnog myself. Guest guest
Julie, I have bought Silk Soy Eggnog also. I agree that it is very good. I believe they have carageenan in it. I would like to sneak in to their plant to see how they do it. Guest guest
I believe you are right about the carrageenan. Based on scare articles like this: http://www.notmilk.com/carageenan.html I now limit my intake, in case there is a hint of truth to it. The plain, unsweetened soy milk I use for my yogurt does not have it, but their chocolate flavor does, so every once in a while, I still knowingly consume. -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , " Guru K " <greatyoga wrote: > > Julie, > > I have bought Silk Soy Eggnog also. Guest guest
Silk products have carageenan in them ... I will not buy them. Most of Tofutti 'cheeses' and the like have carageenan. I am not sure of the " soy ice-cream " . For soy milk or rice milk I use Soy Dream ... Vanilla or Carab ... they are carageenan free. Their chocolate is also ... their rice milk variations too. Rice Brand for the " un-cheese " cheeses is also free of carageenan. - " Erin " <truepatriot Tuesday, December 26, 2006 10:51 AM Re: Eggless Nog GB >I believe you are right about the carrageenan. > Based on scare articles like this: > > http://www.notmilk.com/carageenan.html > > I now limit my intake, in case there is a hint > of truth to it. Guest guest
Erin, This was quite interesting. I did not know this about carrageenan. I have never noticed any side effects but that doesn't mean there are some. I just thought that carrageenan was what they used to make it thicker. I would like to find more info about this. Thanks GB , " Erin " <truepatriot wrote: > > I believe you are right about the carrageenan. > Based on scare articles like this: > > http://www.notmilk.com/carageenan.html > > I now limit my intake, in case there is a hint > of truth to it. Guest guest
Well, the chocolate, unsweetened Westsoy is only a treat; I usually stick to their plain, unsweetened, which does not contain carrageenan. Unfortunately, the Soy Dream brand does not appear to offer an unsweetened option in any flavor. Maybe I'm just missing it. Here's their site: http://www.tastethedream.com/index.php And Westsoy's: http://www.westsoy.biz/ -Erin www.zenpawn.com/vegblog , " Alyssia " <deechun_sa_ngop wrote: > > Silk products have carageenan in them ...
