Which fruits can you store in the fridge? I am particularly concerns about

pears and avocados. And this would be BEFORE they are cut into that I'm worried

about. And what would be the effect on them?

What is the source of your concern?

I store avocados in the fridge until I am ready to take

them out for ripening. They do ripen in the fridge too,

just more slowly.

Pears store great in the fridge...I like mine a little under-ripe and

keeping them in the fridge keeps them that way longer, plus they are

great cold. I don't know about avocados, but something tells me no.

I'm not sure if I read it somewhere or something or if I am totally

wrong and they'd be fine refrigerated, but I think they are somewhat

like tomatoes in that they may lose flavor if chilled?

At the organic produce company I work for, we never put the avocados

in the cooler. My boss says it affects the texture & flavor. Pears

go in the cooler with no bad results.

hth,

Peace,

This has been my experience too. Avocado's seem to get more stringy/fibrous

texture too, when refrigerated, I've found.
