animal protein digestion

Can anyone direct me to a link or website that discusses problems with

protein digestion? I became vegetarian this summer for several

reasons, and a positive side effect I have discovered is I don't have

as much joint pain as I did when I ate meat. I can run longer,

faster, and more times per week, and my knees and ankles don't kill me

anymore. My chiropractor says it might have to do with my body not

process animal protein effectively, and I would like to learn more

about this. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance,

I don't know about the link, but I do know that I experienced the same thing. I

have been a veg. since about August and ate meat over the holidays and once I

started, it was like I couldn't stop. I started aching all over. My joints in

my hands and knees ache. I'm back to the veg. diet (2 days now) and I'm still

experiencing the aches. I'm sure it takes a while to get meat out of your

system. I was also reassured of my hypothesis that my mood and overall energy

had improved on the veg. diet. These past few weeks have been hell! I've been

crabby and exhausted. I'm definitely sold now!

It takes much longer for meat to get through the digestive system than

other foods. Also, meat, especially red meat has a lot of uric acid,

which settles in the joints on some people.

I can't digest animal protein either--that's why I wound up going vegan.

No joint probs, entirely GI issues.
