Guest guest
Deanna it is good to see you back. I have been saving this question for you. Some time back you posted a recipe for Wheatgerm Oatmeal burgers and I saved the recipe but when I came to make it I realised that the wheatgerm was omitted from the recipe. How much wheatgerm should I add? Here is the recipe you posted. Wheat Germ-Oatmeal'Burgers' 4 1/2 cups water 1/4 cup Braggs liquid aminos 3 tablespoons olive oil 4 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 1 teaspoon basil 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon sage salt and pepper(optional) 1.) In a medium size bowl, mix all dry ingredients together and set aside. 2.) In a medium size pan, Bring water, Braggs liquid aminos and olive oil to boil. 3.) Add dry mixture and simmer until liquid is absorbed and thickens, stirring occasionally. Appx. 10 minutes 4.) Set aside to cool. When mixture is cool enough to handle, form patties and bake in a 350 degree oven for apx. 30 min. or until golden brown. I baked mine on my clay slab which had been lightly sprayed with olive oil. I fried 4 of the patties just to see how well they hold together and it worked great both ways. TIA Christie
Guest guest
Christy, I can't believe I left out the first ingredient..LOL OK I believe it. I usually add 1/2 to one cup of wheat germ to the recipe. I have added less if I am short on wheat germ..Doesn't seem to make a difference in the recipe. I add it only for the nutritional value . Most of my recipes are 'experiments' and I often do not measure anything. Senior moments are common in this living space..LOL I have been 'behind the scenes' trying to cope with the huge snow storms on the ranch. Finally decided to come to the city at least until Spring. Sending smiles and hugs your way Deanna.. , " christie_0131 " <christie0131 wrote: > > Deanna it is good to see you back. I have been saving this question > for you. Guest guest
Nice to have you back posting on the site Deanna. Hope you don't get buried in the snow in the city too. At least in the city, they usually keep roads cleared for driving. : >)) I bet the ranch was beautiful with all that snow though. So how does one dig out their car from the snow, when they don't know where it is and not end up damagaing it with the snow shovel..........? This is something I've always wondered, since I've never lived where we got more than about 6 inches to a foot of snow and that was gone in less than a week or so. IBTW, I have a wheatgerm pattie recipe too. I love them. The wheat germ adds such a nice flavor doesn't it. I'll have to see if I have ever posted that recipe and look forward to trying this one. Guest guest
It took me an hour or more to dig out the snow from around my car..There was at least 2 ft. on top and snow had drifted to over 3 ft. around the car. While my guy friend was plowing the road I used the shovel around the car. Carefully ! Thank goodness the snow was light and fluffy but still hard work. It was a beautiful Winter Wonderland but only if I didn't have to go out in it. Very difficult feeding the animals but they are all ok. --- In , " wwjd " <jtwigg wrote: > > Nice to have you back posting on the site Deanna. Hope you don't get buried in the snow in the city too.
