Guest guest
I'm just visiting a buddy who lives there - probably won't be doing any 5 hour drives. He's gonna leave me on the strip to wander around while he's at work and we'l be partying at night same as when he visits me in montreal but the exciting news is that it will be my first time on an airplane! mike
Guest guest
Mike, http://www.bonniesprings.com/ranch.html Here is where we rode horse and enjoyed a wildlife conservation area, old west town and melodrama wild west show. We gone here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. They have winter hours, so it looks like everything is open there. Judy - wwjd Wednesday, January 03, 2007 11:40 AM Re: Re: Visiting USA - Mike If you have a car and have time to do the 5 hour drive over to the Grand Canyon http://www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/hours.htm , you should do it. The drive over thru the dessert is beautiful and so vastly different that what most folks have ever seen. We love driving thru the dessert. The Grand Canyon is so breathtaking and I bet in Winter, the snow would give it a whole different look, still just as breathtaking. We've driven over several times from Las Vegas and I could just sit on those park benches that surround the south rim and drink in that beauty for hours. It's look changes as the sun moves across the sky. There are nice trails along the south rim entrance coming north from Flagstaff. Hoover Dam http://www.desertusa.com/colorado/lm_nra/hoover/du_hoover.html is a great place to tour and it is only about 90 minute drive from Las Vegas. We love hiking around Red Rock Canyon, less than 30 minute drive from Las Vegas. I doubt they do the horse back rides thru it this time of the year, but they might, since the weather is mild there. We loved doing that. There is a nice map of driving thru Red Rock Canyon http://www.desertusa.com/redrock/ at the Vistors Center you can pick up. There are lots of wild burrows and some wild mustangs that roam the park. Do not approach them. The drive will take you thru some really beautiful countryside. There are different pull offs along the way to stop and take pictures and hike short trails. Death Valley is not a far drive away either. That is a unique place to drive thru and enjoy the landscape. They have beautiful sand dunes too. http://www.desertusa.com/dv/du_dvpmain.html Enjoy, Judy - Mike Wednesday, January 03, 2007 10:53 AM Re: Visiting USA I'll be in vegas next week, arriving wednesday leaving tuesday mike
Guest guest
I hope you enjoy the plane ride and have a window seat to enjoy the views you are flying over. It would be a shame to be so close to the Grand Canyon and not go. : ))) It is one of the top Natural Wonders of the whole world. They have bus tours that you can take from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, since your friend will be working. They also have bus tours to Hoover Dam and out to Bonnie Springs Ranch from Las Vegas. Enjoy, Judy - Mike Wednesday, January 03, 2007 1:13 PM Re: Visiting USA - Mike I'm just visiting a buddy who lives there - probably won't be doing any 5 hour drives. Guest guest
hey judy I guess you're right - I may get the itch to go check it out while he's at work one day... I do have a window seat, and an ipod- so i just need to make some sandwiches that will make the other passengers jealous. My friends who fly often say the best part of a sandwich is make other people wish they weren't eating airplane garbage.... I hope you enjoy the plane ride and have a window seat to enjoy the views you are flying over. Guest guest
Hi Mike, Yes make a yummy sandwich and snacks to enjoy. Make them envious. : ))) Just don't add garlic or they might help you out the window, in those close surroundings. LOL You sound like you are set for a fun plane trip. I hope you get to go to the Grand Canyon. The beauty of nature will give the brain a restful and peaceful break from the overstimulation of Las Vegas. The landscape will wow you. Enjoy, Judy - Mike Wednesday, January 03, 2007 4:40 PM Re: Visiting USA - Mike hey judy I guess you're right - I may get the itch to go check it out while he's at work one day...
