Guest guest
You have to decide just how much of a gambeler you are. I believe that folkd in the US have been inoculated against Alzheimer's, Parkenson's and several other brain originating diseases ... by lobiest's power and influences. This however is my opinion only ... well maybe not only. As I recall, those sites that have no 'fear' from powers who use aluminum as ingredients, tend to warn you, or strongly suggest you avoid aluminum. Sites that rely on, or are associated with compinies that use aluminum either make light of it or tend to emphesize the 'not absolutely proven' concept in their presentation. I do not cook on or in aluminum. I do not wrap food in Aluminum foil or buy things canned in aluminum. I can't get away from all the things wrapped in aluminum, but I try. I will buy the bag of vegie chips that is in the non-aluminum bag and not those in aluminum, et al. Some items with aluminum in them .... baking powder, many antiacids (maylox etc), most chocolates, many underarm deoderants, many asperins, Need an antiacid..... Solgar and other good brands of vitamens/minerials/supplements found in health food stores make " Papaya Enzyme " & " Vegetarian Digestive Enzymes " that are free of those nasty fillers I have seen in drug store versions of Papaya Enzyme.... Yellow # etc. Try these either 10 min before eating or after eating. - " Guru K " <greatyoga Monday, January 08, 2007 5:16 PM Re: Cooking in aluminium > Christie, > > There is no definitive studies on aluminum. Guest guest
My old pressure cooker is aluminium and has been sitting in my cupboard unused for years as there was a theory going round that cooking in aluminium was a contributary factor in developing Alzheimers. As both of my grannies became completely demented in later life, I have been avoiding using aluminium since I heard that. A quick search on Google this morning showed that there seems to be no definitive answer to this but the likelihood is that it is not the problem they once thought it to be. Anyone got any ideas on this? I was thinking of buying a new stainless steel pressure cooker but that will set me back about $100 which I don't have at the moment. Guest guest
Christie, There is no definitive studies on aluminum. Scientists have found more aluminum in bodies of people who have Alzheimer's. I know people in natural healing have advised against aluminum since roughly 1900 saying it causes dementia. Scientist have not found a definite link to aluminum vessels and Alzheimer's though. I personally think there is a link and would not use aluminum vessels, aluminum foil in cooking or aluminum baking powder. Both of my grandmother's died of Alzheimer s and asI recall, both used aluminum cookware. Just soaking beans will cut down on cooktime. Guest guest
My Mom just died of Alzheimer’s. I believe, from my research, that aluminum as well as other heavy metals leads to Alzheimer’s. Lead and mercury are contributors as well as plastics. I mistrust aluminum pots and only use stainless steel. Mercury can contaminate us from mercury (silver) fillings and vaccinations. More on topic, the Indian spice turmeric, according to Ayurveda, is prevention for Alzheimer’s. I think this is because it cleanses the blood and liver of these toxins. Just use some in our food as a precaution.
