Guest guest
I eat a few raw almonds everyday at break time. I don't know if they are the healthiest but they sure taste good. Guest guest
Hi Steph, I think both almonds and walnuts are supposed to be really great nutritionally. I can't remember where I read it right now, but I know I've seen some discussion recently about a study suggesting that walnuts are responsible for more of the health benefits in Mediterranean diets than was originally thought. Here's a link about almonds: http://whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice & dbid=20#summary and one about walnuts: http://whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice & dbid=99#summary Yum!! Guest guest
Walnuts contain omega-3 fatty acids. Just like flax and hemp. I've been eating a small amount (about a tablespoon) of walnuts every day lately. Almonds are also very nutritious but I've run out of those. I also eat ground flax seed daily (again a tablespoon or so). I still haven't tracked down hemp seeds, but I always think of Donna and how much she loves hemp seed. :-) Sharon Maureen wrote: > Hi Steph, > > I think both almonds and walnuts are supposed to be really great > nutritionally. Guest guest
Two doctors reccommended that I eat raw almond. They are good for cardiovascular system. They taste so good, too. I eat a handful of them in the afternoon with a couple apple wedges and it is a great snack. I get Organic almonds. Guest guest
Dr. Agaston (South Beach Diet) also advocates almonds as heart healthy. I don't eat the nut, but use fresh ground almond butter. Guest guest
Hi Steph, Not at all. Over the last six years or so, I've been changing the way I think about food, so I tend to bookmark a lot of things because there's so much more information than I can retain, but thank you so much for the compliment--You really made me smile :^) Peace, Maureen Steph wrote: > Maureen, > Are you a nutritionist? you pull up the most amazing web sites. Guest guest
It depends on the nut and it depends on the person and depends on the situation (what you are trying to accomplish). Peanuts are not nuts. They are very hard to digest and many people are allergic to them. If you eat almonds, remove the skin unless you are menstruating or just delivered a child and want the astringent qualities to shrink the expanded tissue. EAt the skins if you want toget old.
