Guest guest
Just wanted to share with you how my change of eating habits is going. I have not had any meat (i.e. tuna, beef, pork, chicken, etc.) since Monday, nor do I want any. I have had eggs, milk, and cheese and will try to wean myself off those at another time. I have realized that mixes are not good for me and I have purged my kitchen of all such offending items. Our church has a food pantry which I made a sizeable donation to today. Wednesday I was eating part of a box of Uncle Ben's seasoned rice and realized it was healthier to make my own, without all the added ingredients. I have signed up with Spark Pages recommended by another member from this list. This is a great plan (all free) to help track and curb one's eating habits. It has great suggestions and all the food is healthy for me. I went to the store today and bought fresh fruit and veggies. My body does not crave things like it used to. I have decided on Sundays to splurge just a bit. I purchased a box of Breyer's fudge bars with Splenda and will have one each Sunday. I no longer drink fruit juices, even though the Spark Page diet says they are okay. I prefer fresh fruit. My husband told me he thought it was great that I wanted to change the way I look and to celebrate did I want to go to the Chinese Buffet with him. I said NO! After all that could easily run into the thousands of calories. Instead I had a bowl of brown rice, steamed broccoli, vegetarian refried beans, 1 T sour cream, and 1/2 cup diced tomatoes, which I ate at home while he and a male friend of ours went to the Buffet. I walked a mile this morning and wanted to walk this afternoon but did not get around to it. I walk every morning as that is habit for me. I need to make it a habit to walk in the afternoon as well. I drink 12+ glasses of water a day, something I have done for quite some time. Yesterday I drank one cup of herbal fruit tea and was awake most of the night. It was supposed to be caffeine free, but apparently it had a trace in it. Anyway, I am excited about finally finding a healthy solution to dieting. I know it is not a diet, but a lifestyle change, one I will have to commit to for life, and I am willing to do just that. Susan
Guest guest
This is great Susan. Your body thanks you too. Keep it up and don't forget those great herbs, Ms. Dash, onion, garlic, green peppers, celery and seasonings to season with. I'm very proud of you. Judy . Guest guest
Susan, You should be so proud of all the positive changes you have made. Good job saying no to Chinese I know when I start losing weight my husband pulls that on me also I think mainly because he wants something that we don't have in the house because of the dieting. I did want to let you know that too much water is bad. I read in a magazine a while ago we need to drink 8 glasses of water plus another glass for every 25 pounds we need to lose. My nutritionist says do not go over 8 glasses unless you live where you sweat a lot. You can over hydrate yourself and pee out a lot of nutrients veggies desperately need to hang onto. Steph Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail beta.
Guest guest
Good for you. Keep up the good work and as you have noticed, it soon won't be work. Debbie (yes, I changed e-mail address) ______________________________\ ____
Guest guest
Congratulations, Susan, on your healthy food choices. I am so happy for you And it took a lot of " the right stuff " for you to turn down the Chinese buffet. I don't know if I could do it. I have not given up fish yet, eating salmon once a week, but every thing else in our kitchen is made healthy and vegetarian. I have had back problems and my husband has been doing this cooking. This from a guy who had no idea how to work the stove. Some of the recipes are keepers. Some are tossed. Guess that's how we learn, huh? Keep up the good work. I am proud of you.
