Guest guest
Jeanne, I got to thinking about some ideas that helped my neighbor when she became unable to get out of bed except for using her bedside potty and the following, for about a year and her husband still had to work. Here are some things they did that made a huge difference for her and I hope they will help you too. Her set the following up beside her bed. *Her husband filled an ice chest each morning and put beside her bed, with things like water, juice, sandwich makings, applesauce, milk, etc. *He put a bedside potty beside the bed, that he emptied when he got home. *He put paper plates, a roll of paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, waterless handwashing liquid bottle, a couple of bowls, a couple of glass, a gallon of water. washcloth, silver ware, can opener on a small card table beside the bed with a trash can on the floor beside it. *On another card table, he set up a small microwave and a stock of canned veggies and soups, fruit, cereal etc, bagels, cinnamon bread, Peanut butter, etc. He put a chair in between the two card tables, for her to sit in while preparing these things. All of these things made life bearable for her and manageable. I hope some of these ideas help you and don't forget to call a neighbor, if you need them. I don't know what she would have done, if she could not have called me in situations she couldn't handle. Have an emergency person that you can call and don't hesitate. We all need help at different times in our lives. I'm praying for you Jeanne! I'm happy you have your cats for company. They can help to brighten any day, with their TLC and cuteness. BTW, my neighbor has recovered and is now driving and getting around. What a blessing to see her doing so well. This whole sick thing is getting old fast. Egads, the husband person was not home and my stomach said " feed me. " OK, sounds reasonable so I pushed 4 or 7 of the cats off me and attempted to get out of bed. A half hour later my stomach was still saying " feeeed me. " I ignored it because I was busy trying to figure out how to actually get my carcass off the bed now that I was upright. The cats immediately took my space on the bed so I had to get up. Oh heck, where is my walker? The husband person vacuumed the bedroom and moved it into the hallway. Well hel..heck. Fifteen minutes later, walker in hand, I shuffled into the kitchen. Do ya'll know what a kitchen looks like when it hasn't been boiled in a couple of months? Oh the dishes were done but....Gasping, I informed several cats that they were in the forbidden zone. One yawned, one cleaned his bottom. Note to self: Inform husband person that the kitchen is a cat free zone and he needs to evict them to the cat house. Eventually I found a can of good old Campbells Vegetarian Vegetable soup, a bowl and the microwave. By now my stomach was screaming " Fooooooood, FOOD NOW. " Next I had to pop off the top. Easy unless the da...darn ring doesn't break off. OK, I am a big girl, I can handle this. Can opener. Where the....... Oh, OK, there it is. Under Oscar the Catmoose. Pookie attempted to remove part of my hand to get to the can being opened. Unable to get her snout in the can because my hand was in the way, she jumped to my shoulder. Oh she has gained weight, hasn't she? I called her a name that was species incorrect as she is a cat and not a female dog. Pushing the furballs out of the way, I finally nuked the soup then realized there was an additional logistics problem. How the hell was I going to use the walker to get to the bedroom while carrying a bowl of boiling hot soup? I left it in the nuker and went back to bed. I pushed the cats off my side of the bed, got comfortable, got my book to the right page and the DVD running. (Multitask is my middle name.) Then my bladder said......... Honestly veggies, getting old is the pits. Love to all of you, Jeanne in GA Looking for earth-friendly autos? Browse Top Cars by " Green Rating " at Autos' Green Center. Guest guest
Those are great ideas! My sweet husband is doing a couple of them right now. Had to get a B12 shot today and my doctor is calling the blood doc. Pretty good proof we cannot live on Cheerios I think. Thank you so much for the ideas and the knee mails. I need both.
