Guest guest
Hi All, Now that it is citrus season, I thought I would ask what your favorite Citrus Fruit is and do you have a favorite recipe you like to use it in? I look forward to your answers. Judy
Guest guest
There is a gem of a tangerine sort of thing called a Honey Bell that we've only found around Orlando, FL. It is the most incredibly sweet, easy to peel and nearly seedless. We actually found a bag of them at Sam's recently and have been sharing one a night. Bliss. No recipe, just peel and eat. Yum. Toss up favorite would have to be key lime and key lime pie or key lime cheesecake. Jeanne in GA Now that's room service! Guest guest
I have 2. Blood oranges and I grate the zest and add the juice to a sweetbread. Grapefruit and I soak the segments in Chambord and eat them out of a martini glass dahlink! Guest guest
Yum, citrus--What a great question, Judy! I love citrus fruits in just about anything. (Donna's Chambord/grapefruit combo totally has my mouth watering!) Tart and creamy is also a big favorite of mine--I made a vegan lemon pudding for the first time a couple of months ago, and a coconut rice with lime zest last week that hit that spot. (I could post either/both if anyone wants 'em) I also saw one of my all time favorite non-creamy, summer recipes in the files--Quinoa with Green beans, tomatoes, and basil. (There's two tablespoons lemon juice in it, and it has a lovely lemony flavor.) Has anyone tried limetta (limettas?)? Are they really sweet enough to juice without adding sweetener? wwjd wrote: > Hi All, > Now that it is citrus season, I thought I would ask what your favorite > Citrus Fruit is > and do you have a favorite recipe you like to use it in? > > I look forward to your answers. > Judy > > >
Guest guest
Oh Jeanne, YES those are so sweet and make the best fresh squeezed OJ. When we go down to Florida we go and pick about 3 bushels and bring them home to make juice out of. every morning. They store well in our garage............ It is so good.. I haven't seen them at Sam's club. I'll have to look for them next week, when we will be near one. I hope you will send in your recipe for the key lime pie and key lime cheesecake. They sound good.
