Guest guest
Yay! I found you. Believe me don't feel any of us are better than you in cooking. We have many members in here learning each and every single day. I'm always learning something new and I've been a veg for over 26 yrs. Please let us know if you have any questions. All of us love to help. Donna --- meadvaletom <meadvaletom wrote: > Hello > My name is Tom and I live in Englnad. Confession; I > am not in > principle a vegetarian but in practice I am. Guest guest
Oh gosh, yes, Tom! I want to echo what Donna said. I've been veggie for 30 years but never ever really cooked. I joined this list about a year ago and it's the BEST! I've learned so much from the kind folks here (and from wonderful Donna) and I've used many of the recipes (the files can be hard to search, but there is a wealth of info there). Just this year I've become vegan, for health reasons, so I have a LOT more learning to do! Sharon Donnalilacflower wrote: > Yay! I found you. Guest guest
Thank you Donna for your welcome and Sharon too. If it is OK to ask I do have some questions already. I think it is just the difference between American and English usage. I was searching for loaf recipies and found lots of goodies BUT have no idea what these are: quinoa? Mrs dash or Spike? I also want to check that " mayo " means mayonnaise...... and vegetable broth? Is that what I would call vegetable stock? Thanks Tom , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > Yay! I found you. Guest guest
Hi Tom Christie from Edinburgh here. Welcome to the group. Quinoa is a kind of grain. You will find it in most supermarkets these days - Tesco have their own brand in their whole foods range and I have also bought it in the health foods section at Sainsbury. Mrs Dash and Spike are seasoning mixes - there seem be a number of different types which comprise different mixtures of herbs and spices. When I see that in a recipe I either use my own mixture of herbs and spices or I sometimes use a product called Spice-It-Up by Fiddes Payne which I bought at the supermarket. Mayo is indeed mayonnaise and vegetable broth is vegetable stock.
