Guest guest
spit in dishes or bring caffeinated beverages to those who requested caffeine free ---EWWW! people really do that?? Yes, I agree - what goes around, comes around. I've heard stories.....I never witnessed one or I would have stepped in and kicked some bootie. That is just wrong. But I did see dishwashers eating dinner off of plates returned. Ugh. I offered to buy many a dishwasher a meal, or asked one of the cooks to feed them with stuff going out, but not already 'eaten'. Many cooks were compassionate to those in need. Our community here in Ann Arbor has 'Food Gatherers', a charity that collects groceries from schools, hospitals, grocery stores, etc that is not opened or touched, but maybe is within a day or so of the expiration date. They have a 'grocery store' where people can buy stuff at a reduced price or just get it for free, people basically pay as they are able, they also have to cover the heat bill, so if they don't have the money they don't go hungry. They volunteer, or pay later, or accept it as goodwill. Great organization. We support them. Last year at my daughter's 'silent auction' (which I volunteered to 'help' with and ended up getting over 60 donors, no one helped me. I also made and wrote all the thank you cards....) I put together a large paper grocery store bag of non perishable goods, proceeds to be donated to Food Gatherers. Trader Joe's also donated a bag of stuff for the same cause.
