Hi-

I am definitely a lurker, but I had to share this.

I read a lot about what is actually in cat food, threw up, and went through the

old Vegan Chat list entries on vegan cat food companies. In this case, my guy

" Ricky " is very unique because either he has Bulimia which is what I think he

has, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is what the veterinarian thinks he has.

Ricky will wolf down his food, toss it right back up, run around the house

playing for awhile like a crazy person, then run back in and wolf down the rest

of his food with no problem. He actually takes the same medication for IBB that

I take for IBB. One time, I called the doctor about problems I was having, and

he asked me if I still had my medication - which I had run out of. I read him

Ricky's prescription bottle and my doctor told me to take that.

But I digress.

I ordered up some Vegan cat food and we gave it a try tonight. I was prepared

to give him a little, have him walk away with his nose in the air, or wolf it

down and toss it right back up again.

Well.

He ate the food, licked the bowl, chewed on the bowl, whined piteously while I

waited to see if he would toss it back up, and then I gave him more. I think he

is laying out their panting right now because his stomach is stretched out.

No barfing.

Stay tuned for the saga of Ricky's diet. I got with his food some sort of

VeganCat food additive and RECIPES for me to BAKE him kibble using this additive

and grains or something. I do not cook for myself. I am going to look real

funny in their baking for the CAT.

It's a living.

Cynthia: Please would you keep us informed on how

Ricky continues to go on that vegan catfood? I have a

cat who has the same problem - except that the vets

all say thee's nothing wrong with him - and he's not

overly fussy about what he eats except to refuse *wet*

catfood - no cans, just kibble that is. I am thinking

seriously of trying him on a vegan food -

Many thanks.

Best,

Pat in Montreal
