Guest guest
thanks for all the advice on what to say on animal testing. Now I am Armed! I always think it is funny how, people who eat meat, are always thinking up questions on how to stomp us vegans. But maybe it is really themselves they are asking? -anouk
Guest guest
It very much pleases me when people really have a go at the vegan arguament. They fear that they are wrong. The more aggressive the worse they feel/// Anouk Sickler [zurumato] 31 December 2004 17:16 advice on what to say. thanks for all the advice on what to say on animal testing. Now I am Armed! Guest guest
Peter, Not that I doubt the information, but can you advise me as to the source of the information in points 1 & 2? Over 75% of drugs considered safe after testing on animals are withdrawnfrom sale within five years due to harmful side-effects on humans.2. Over 45% of people in hospital are there because of side-effects fromdrugs considered safe after animal testing.3. Animal testing is not reliable, and is flawed in its basic premise sinceresults from one species can never be successfully extrapolated to another. This method of testing drugs is promoted because it is a big money-maker forsuppliers of the animals, and has held back medical science considerably. Ifwe dispense with animal testing, and move over to computer simulation, cellculture tests and human volunteers, we will make many more medical advancesmuch more rapidly.4. Ask when he will be taking his next dose of DDT.5. (My personal favourite) Ask him if he ever uses a computer... then askhim if he thinks it's OKto exterminate Jews. Assuming he answers the same way as 99% of thepopulation, point out to him that the entire basis of modern computing comesfrom the IBM systems created for administering the death chambers atAuschwitz, and ask him if he will now throw away his computer. Then ask himif he will use any of the medicines which were tested in nazi concentrationcamps. Point out that results from one human subject can be extrapolated toanother, and therefore at least the methods used in Nazi Germany werescientifically supportable, unlike animal testing.6. The past can't be changed... animals that have been killed can't bebrought back to life. No further harm is done by taking the medicinesconcerned, and while you are alive you can continue to fight to get rid ofanimal testing which would benefit both humans and animals... if you choosenot to take the drug and die, then you can't do any good for anyone.7. If all else fails, just point out that he's an idiot, and ask him what hedoes to attempt to prevent animal or human suffering, or whether he justtries to pick fault with those who do try to make a difference to makehimself feel better about his own lack of action.BBPeter
Guest guest
This is probably the only option suitable for some folks. sara " You tell me that I make no difference Well at least I'm fucking trying What the fuck have you done? Guest guest
Hi Peter > Not that I doubt the information, but can you advise me as to the source of the information in points 1 & 2? Now you're asking. I found the info about 5 years ago when I was trying to find a decent answer to people who thought that medical vivisection was necessary. I really can't remember the sources now, but I suspect it was probably on the internet somewhere. BB Peter
Guest guest
Hi Peter and Peter :-) I looked to see if I had saved the information, but can't find it on my computer anywhere. If I get the chance I will have a look on my work pc. I also think there was some publication that I read recently that had similar figures, but I can't find that either at present.
