I just looked at the menu of his cafe, and there is

canadian bacon,

butter,

goat cheese,

cheddar cheese, cream cheese, among others

huh? i guess it's "vegan friendly".

yeah, he's vegan

i've never been to his cafe(Teany), as haven't been to NYC in ages..

but, its suppose to be vegetarain , and vegan friendly..apparantly his partner is only vegetarian..sooo

at least some of the *meats* are analogs....

and i know they have *faux* canadian bacon..dunno if they have any real dead flesh

and yeah, they have cheese...

from the times i've been there since i went veg, NYC just isn;t a very vegan friendly town...oh, there are places to go (as there better be fer a metropolis of that size).,..but...

a bonus question....

name Moby's original band from the early 1980's

muhahahahahahahahhaha

i have no idea, or I don't remember.

does anyone else know. I am curious now.

in the early 1980's I listened to men at work, devo, go-gos, duran duran.

I was about 10, and had a crush on just about every (mostly british) music star.

youre right about there not being, that many good vegetarian restaurants in nyc(manhattan).

living there all of my life, I can only remember four of the top of my head. Only one vegan. I think that the rents (of the restaurants must be too high).

I have been in florida for five months.

I miss "walking" to places.

personally i think it has a lot to do with culture as well...SF has high rents, yet we have a plethora of places out here..

lotsa things that we take for granted on the west coast never caught on in NYC...like brewpubs and the craft brewery movement(yeah, they have em in new york, they just never really caught on like out here), a wide diversity of restauarants, etc...

its ok..they got theater..heh

Moby's cafe is completely vegetarian. No dead flesh :), and he is a

patron of the vegan society. I saw Moby a year or two ago when he

visited the UK, and he had vegan/veggie and animal rights literature

in the concert hall foyer.

There are a lot of vegan dishes available, including cakes.

I think Moby's original early 1980s band was called The Vatican

Commandos, and his subsiquent bands in the eighties were AWOL and

Shopwell.

Moby is (or at least used to be) vegan. Maybe he doesn't run a vegan cafe though.

Yeah he is a vegan, and I believe ( though I may be wrong ) that he is a honorary patron of the UK Vegan society. I know he used to have something to do with the restaurant, but I thought that he pulled out ( phnar, phnar!)
