Guest guest
Should you get mammograms? Here are three sources below arguing against mammograms. They all supply some interesting information. http://www.healingdaily.com/conditions/mammograms.htm http://www.breastcancerfund.org/site/pp.asp?c=kwKXLdPaE & b=84628 http://www.bcaction.org/Pages/GetInformed/MammographyAndNewTech.html Rick. Guest guest
This is a very important topic and worthy of discussion; however, aren't there more appropriate forums for this discussion?
Guest guest
It's a good topic for the group I feel because we vegetarians are interested in staying healthy, and breast cancer is certainly a vital health issue. Feel free to throw in another veg issue though if you like. Guest guest
Shrug! Are we complaining about discussion of health issues? Seems to me, it takes less effort to click delete and go on, than it does to click on reply and then complain. When I'm watching television, and I flip to a program that I'm not interested in, I keep flipping. I do not write to the network, or stars of that program to complain that it does not interst or relate to me! Oh, I have written to networks! I have written to point out poor grammar in comercials intended for children ( " We're funner " ), or news programs when the " news " they share is incorrect ( " Jews are celebrating the holiday of Seder " ). Ingredients. Recipes. Pets. Alergies. Vitamins. Where to shop / eat. Vegetarian / vegan. Health. Personally, I like the direction of topics this group explores. :^) When I don't relate... or care, I can delete. I can even roll my eyes... and then delete... :^) ........... I'm wondering now about clicks on reply to comment on this. :^) ===== " The cat did not respond. She did not believe in paraphrasing anybody. Guest guest
To ease your wondering, I'll go ahead and respond with a comment and observation: 1. I was NOT complaining. My intent was to raise the question as to whether or not the topic was on target for this group. I view the group as oriented toward discussing vegetarian cooking and life styles. To me, mammograms are omniverous :>). I agree that I can, and ususally do, delete postings that are of no interest. However, I belong to several groups devoted to vegetarian cooking and various ethnic cooking topics. As such I get a lot of postings (nothing unusual for most of us I am sure). Therefore I am continually evaluating the groups to see if they fit my interests. My comment was only to raise a question on the direction this group is interested in taking. From the few responses, it appears that the group feels that mammograms are an appropriate topic. That is great! My interest in this group is for the recipes and general information specific to the vegetarian way of life. Mammograms do not fall into either category. So, like all of my other groups I will continue to evaluate whether I am getting what I am looking for from the group and if so will continue and if not I will drop the group. It's cool either way. 2. I found it interesting that Mr. Wirpel took the time to reply because of his apparent strong exception to my questioning whether or not there were more appropriate forums for the topic. The initial point of his response was that I should have just deleted the posting. However, he also went to some lenght to descibe how he frequently contacts organizatons to express his opinions about their programming or content. I hope this was not the intent, but the implication is that it is ok for him to directly address an issue in writing to someone, but others should just turn off or delete. I promise that I will not clutter the discussion group with any more responses on this topic. Thanks. , Jiraph Wirpel <wirpel> wrote: > > Shrug! > > Are we complaining about discussion of health issues? > > Seems to me, it takes less effort to click delete and > go on, than it does to click on reply and then > complain. > > When I'm watching television, and I flip to a program > that I'm not interested in, I keep flipping.
