Next week I'm going to be a vegan in Vegas and was wondering if anyone knew

of any places that did vegan food particularly on or near the Strip. I've

done a bit of searching online and it seems pretty poor with any vegetarian

cafes being a few miles away. I'm only gonna be there a couple of days and

won't have a car so will be right on the Strip for most of the time (or at

the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino). I read that some places do a 'veggieburger'

but would these be vegan? Any info much appreciated.

Hi Shari;

I hope this isn't too late for you. I have been in the field (I love

my job!) for the late week, so no computer access.

Vegas is def NOT a vegan haven, but with that in mind, there are some

choices near the strip.

Go west on Sahara about 1/2 block from the strip and there is a pretty

decent Indian place. Many things there are vegan. There are some Thai

places over that area, too, which will generally do vegan if

requested. I mostly avoid the strip, but think most of the casinos

have salad bars involved with their buffets.

Hope some of this helps.

Shari;

I thought of another possibility. The Aladin has a sushi bar where

they have wonderous veggie sushi. I go every so often with the only

vegan I know here in Vegas. Kinda pricey, but you are in Vegas to blow

all your money anyway? Right? Right?

Thanks for that info, Sara. Not too late. I don't go till later in the week.

Having said that, I forgot to mention I'm the fussiest eater ever and don't

like any foreign food - so um... indian and thai... sounds... um...

Not really into salads either (my diet here generally consists of fries,

veggie/bean burgers, vegan sausage rolls, basically anything that resembles

junk food but vegan.

Maybe I'll stick my potato chips. lol. I've got a bunch packed in my

suitcase. Hopefully if I run out I can at least buy more in a 7-11.

Well, then it would be the nearest Burger King since they have veggie burgers and the nearest Subway for a veggie soy wrap or a veggie burger sandwich.

Hmmm... Well that kind of stuff is not really available vegan here

any places I know of. There is a raw food place that has lots

of " fake meat " -type things. But it's kinda far off the strip. I went

there once and it was OK, but not really my kind of thing. You will

prob be better off bringing your own food. Sorry.

I guess so. I imagine there are both on the Strip in one or another

of the casinos. Also, Crown and Anchor (a pub not too far off the

Strip on Tropicana) has a veggie burger and chips (fries, whatever).

Well, there are many Thai places, Indian places, Mexican places (I

have a few that make vegan burritos for me)... Let's face it, people

come to Vegas and eat out a lot, so we have a lot of resturants.

There is also an Ethiopian place I have yet to try, but I really

love that type of food and they tend to have vegan options (assuming

you forgo the bread).

There are actually quite a lot of choices, assuming you like non-

american-type food. Yum! Now I want Ethiopian!!!
