Guest guest
Can anyone give me advice as to how best to deal with a 4 year old who will not eat any fruit or veg. Has anyone overcome this problem. I know that the window of opportunity has been missed but I can not understand his absolute hatred of fruit or veg. He is not even willing to put them on his lips. He drinks processed juice and I have tried to sneak a fresh juiced orange in to it but he did not drink it. I tried to give him pureed strawberries in a strawberry yogurt but he rejected that. (He will eat a yogurt that I do interfere with)I have tried using the example of some cousins that he idolises but to no avail. He seems very healthy now but I am very worried about his health in the future.
Guest guest
well ..... I don't suggest you starve your child but maybe the hungrier they are the more likely they would be to try something new avoid snacks and maybe an extra hour or two before lunch that sort of thing.. just a thought Craig kids dietsCan anyone give me advice as to how best to deal with a 4 year old who will not eat any fruit or veg. Guest guest
Soy or rice milk whizzed in the blender with a ton of fresh fruits and then frozen in little paper cups with a popcicle stick. Kids love frozen goodies. Frozen grapes. Did I send the applesauce cake recipe? Use your fruit of choice to make an upside down cake. What about Indian fry bread with a fruit compote? Oven roasted zukes with dipping sauces? Carrot cake? Zucchini cake? Celery with peanut butter? Apples dipped in carob chip glaze and then rolled in chopped peanuts (unsalted). Let him make his own fruit smoothies? Kids usually love to eat what they have made/cooked. The kidlets like them, I think, more because of getting to drop things through the top and then the ice making a racket <g> Lynda - Mary Minihane <minih Thursday, April 21, 2005 10:40 AM kids diets > > > > Can anyone give me advice as to how best to deal with a 4 year old who > will not eat any fruit or veg. Guest guest
Lynda Thank you for your suggestions regarding my grandson's diet. I have tried frozen juice as a popcicle but had not thought to put some type of milk through it. My son bought a smoothy maker and tried some smoothies but that did not work. He tells me that he spent an hour yesterday trying gently and with the aid of promises to get him to eat a banana and after an hour he had managed to get him to eat half of it. He claims that he eats the banana that is put in his lunch box every day but we feel that he does not but maybe gets someone else to eat it as we have never seen him to consume a banana. When I offer him a banana he says " that is only for school " . I know that people will be thinking " how could she have let this situation develop " but I was out of the country during the time that he should have been introduced to these foods and his parents seperated when he was a few months old. His week is divided equally between the two houses and I do the babysitting for both parties so he spends a lot of time with me now. I could influence him now but it seems to be too late. He is a terific child and is gentle and loving. He never trows a tantrum and will do anything I ask of him except eat fruit and veg. Everybody knows at this stage that we have a serious problem on our hands. We will probably have to seek professional help but I have very little faith in those people. Thank you again for your suggestions (and the other person who replied to me) Mary , " Lynda " <lurine@s...> wrote: > > Soy or rice milk whizzed in the blender with a ton of fresh fruits and then > frozen in little paper cups with a popcicle stick.
