Yes, I'm thin, slender, slim, and I love it. I love the fact that I

can walk far distances without losing my breath. I love the fact

that I am at much lower for heart disease and various cancers. I

love being able to fit into small places. The benefits are

numerous. I really enjoy being thin. Really.

And then there's fat people, aparently some of them are vegan, too.

I have to admit though, I have a hard time feeling compassion for

them. What? You cant control what you put in your mouths?? I think

we need to acknowlege that there are too many overweight people in

North America. And I believe that this is because they eat the wrong

foods or the wrong quantities. The simple equation still stands true:

CALORIES INJESTED MINUS CALORIES BURNED EQUALS CALORIES STORED AS FAT.

Is it fair to say that fat people want to be thin? Something tells

me that fat people who say " I LIKE MY BODY, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT " are

just trying to convince themselves that they needn't bother trying to

control thier weight. Is this too far fetched?

YES, SOME OF US HAVE THYROID PROBLEMS. ACKNOWLEGED.

Cool. And I'm fat and love it.

I walk two to five miles a day, every day of the year, rain or shine.

*shrug* Health is possible at any weight.

By the way, I believe you when you say you like being thin. Please

give me the same courtesy and believe that I like my fat body. I

find it sexy and strong and useful and beautiful, and so do my

partners. I get a lot of sex, a lot of love, and a lot of

compliments. I'm not unhappy at all with my body.

For some people, no they can't. Even in that documentary we have all been talking about "Supersize Me," Morgan shows serious signs of addiction to the food. This is not not only evident by his mood but also his actions alter when he eats it. You can also sit there and watch as he goes through withdrawls.

Some people also try to appease certain emotions with food. I'm the type of person that when I get very depressed I can't even think about eating; however, my best friend is the type of person that will eat everything that isn't nailed down if she gets depressed.

Both addiction and emotional eating are almost so engrained in the person that they are a reflex rather than a conscious decision.

I don't disagree with that at all, but your arrogant attitude doesn't help things. Obesity also isn't limited to the United States.

From the following article: http://www.rednova.com/news/display/?id=135867

In Greece, 38 percent of women are obese compared with 34 percent in the US.

" In Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Greece, Malta and Slovakia, a higher percentage of men are obese or overweight than the estimated 67 percent of men in the United States, according to a report from the International Obesity Task Force."

" More than 30 percent of children ages 7 to 11 are overweight in Italy, Portugal, Spain and Malta, it said."

> quantities.

Again, sure.. In general, I don't disagree. But that doesn't directly relate to your first comment that you have no compassion or sympathy for people who are overweight.

You get more flies with honey than you do with a big pile of shit -- try it if you don't believe me. The obesity problem in America isn't going to get any better if people like you continue to belittle the problem at hand. It's your mentality that continues to propagate the need for young women (and men) to pursue anorexia and bulimia. Heroin waif thin is not only an unhealthy image, but an impossible image for most people and yet it's what is accepted as beauty. Thin doesn't necessarily mean healthy especially when you have anorexia -- you can't walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded.

The fact remains that people need not only to be given education, but to be given compassion to assist them in dealing with the underlying issues they face.

I don't know about Europe, or other countries, but in 2004 Americans spent 16 BILLION DOLLARS on anti-depressant medications. Are anti-depressants over-prescribed? Damn right, but I don't buy for a second that they are over-prescribed 16 billion dollars worth. Billions of dollars on "happy pills" and obese people who eat McDonald's that has been scientifically shown to manipulate brain chemistry in such a way as to make you "happy". Interesting...
