Guest guest
Hello Everyone, Thanks for the recipe ideas that everyone posts here...I've tried a few and been able to add a lot of different things to my diet! My question for you is has anyone been on a vegetarian diet to help with inflammation? I was told that eliminating animal proteins would help with inflammation and it really hasn't...so I did some research and found this: " While whole fruits and vegetables are important for their vitamins, minerals, and natural antioxidants, some vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant may actually make inflammation worse. These vegetables are part of the nightshade family of plants and contain a chemical alkaloid called solanine. Solanine can trigger inflammation in some people and nightshade plants should be avoided to see if your pain and inflammation improves " I really don't know what is considered a nightshade plant, but seems like if I eliminate them from my diet there may not be much left for me to eat! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Christina
Guest guest
Hi Christina, Vegetables from the nightshade (Solanaceae) family include tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, and peppers. Still a lot of other things to eat!!! Guest guest
The only problem plant that I was taught about was the Tomato. It is part of the Bella-donna family and i believe this includes nightshade....not sure if you can get any more info on that or not.
