Guest guest
Well with all the idiotic health nonsense going on my diet is now a lot more restricted and I can't chomp my lovely raw fruit and veggies without bending over double in pain. Same with nuts. (Have a gorgeous tin of smoked almonds sitting in front of me and I don't dare munch them.) So I want something that chews. I found some vegetarian jerkys online but would like to have the group's input on the best tasting. (But not hot spice, sigh, can't do that any more either.) The Tofurky Jurky Ginger Teriyaki looks good, what do you guys think? (also where is the cheapest place to get jerky/jurky?) Jeanne in GA in serious carrot and celery withdrawal Need Mail bonding? Guest guest
Oh Jeanne, I love smoked almonds too. I'm sure it is hard to resist those foods that crunch and are so healthy for most of us. I've never tried the Vegetarian Jerky before. Wish I could help you. Hope you find something that you can chew and crunch without side effects in your condition. Guest guest
Oh Jeanne, I'm so sorry you can't munch up your veggies like before I know what you mean about that need for crunch/chew though. I had an excellent jerky today. It's called Primal Strips by Primal Spirit Foods. http://www.primalspiritfoods.com/1oz_bar.htm I had the bbq & it was very satisfying! It was very moist though and for a couple of bites, almost felt like thin slices of stew meat. Can't wait to try the other kinds. I paid $1.19 for the 1 oz package at my co-op. I used to be hooked on that Stonewall's Jerquee but am trying to lower my salt intake a little ($%^*ing kidney stone). All the Stonewall's have a really firm nice chew to them and the wild really is spicy. I tried a jerky from Tasty Eats a few weeks ago & didn't like the taste. The texture was great, very dry & chewy but it had too much of that sweet/teriyaki thing going on for me. Haven't tried the Tofurky yet. The Primal Strips were cheaper I tried baking my own tofu in hopes of getting a jerky-like snack but it never did dry up enough. Made a good sandwich tho'. hth & hope your recovery progresses more so you can eat what you want and post more. Miss your sunny posts warm hugs, Diane , treazure noname <treazured wrote: > > Well with all the idiotic health nonsense going on my diet is now a lot more restricted and I can't chomp my lovely raw fruit and veggies without bending over double in pain. Guest guest
Yummy suggestions, thank you guys! Think I'll splurge next week and get one of several and do a taste chew test. Love the idea of accidentally making tofu sandwich slice instead of jerky. Dianne and Chandra actually got me to eat the stuff, lol. (It is our secret, ok? Let's not tell the husband or son that they were eating tofu in stir frys back when I could use a knife.) I wish we had a " health " foods store here. Thankfully there is the internet. Somebody go have some celery or carrots for me, ok? Oh, and an apple and a handful of nuts or or or..... Jeanne in GA who is really tired of applesauce, vegetable soup and mashed potatoes and other bland soft blahs.........bleah. Cheap Talk? Check out Messenger's low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
I was in Whole Foods last week in Henderson, NV & there was a whole display of vegetarian jerkys. Don't recall the flavors or prices because I wasn't going to buy or eat them but they're there. treazure noname <treazured wrote: So I want something that chews.
