I know many of you adore Disney and have been many times my question is can I

use my credit card or debit card almost everywhere there? My bank recommended us

only bring our credit cards and not cash but if I want rent a locker or

something can I with credit cards. Thanks so much your advice we have never been

on a big trip.

I think you'll need to have some cash on hand for the concession stands, but the

walk in restaurants, you can probably use a credit card at. I don't remember,

so don't hold me to it. Lockers will probably require some coins. Check out

this website for phone #;s to call them directly for info.

Have a ton of fun.

You can do most everything with a credit or debit card-even the

soda/ice cream carts take both. The only carts I have seen not take

them are like the temporary carts that sell the twirling light toys

right before the evening fireworks. Other than that, credit/debit

cards are accepted everywhere.

We have rented a wheel chair, a stroller and a locker at Disney. And you go

to a desk to do it.

I am sure at one time or another we used a credit card.

I'm assuming you're asking about Disneyland, though the policy should be the

same at WDW. You can use your credit/debit card at almost all shops,

resturants, and locker rental facilities. I use my card all the time when I

go since it's easier to keep track of the one card than all the cash when

I'm also tracking two kids! The only places that won't take the card is the

outside vendors/carts (churros, popcorn, fruit stands, beverages...). For

this DO NOT hit the ATMs, they charge huge fees! Go to any of the stores or

City Hall and purchase Disney Dollars, no extra fees, works like cash, and

at the end of the trip you can turn it back in for cash at any of the stores

or City Hall!

Feel free to keep the questions coming!

So are you headed to Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Feel free to e-mail me

off group with anymore questions. I've made myself a Disneyland expert now

that we have Annual Passports, but I have good sources for info on Walt

Disney World too!

You can probably also withdraw cash from an ATM with your credit

card... try it near home before you leave. We have been able to

withdraw money from ATMs in Italy, New Jersey, the Dominican Republic

and other Caribbean islands with our VISA card with no problem.

But it is much easier, safer and more convenient than carrying around

lots of cash or traveler's checks!!! And you get the cash in the local

currency. Actually, I don't think my bank charges so much... maybe it

varies???

I plan on using my debit card and just bringing some money for back up. I

appreciate everyones feedback. You can only withdrawl $500 a day at my bank so I

didnt want to get my family in a bind. I think debit and Credit is the safest

plan then when I return home pay the balance off quick before the interest

sneaks in..lol

I agree, most cc charge a fortune to withdraw cash from an atm. Use your bank

card to withdraw money for very little charge.

That is what we do Steph. We never pay them interest, just pay off the entire

amount each month. Using the CC company is the only way to go. We use our GM

card and accumulate $7,000 for bonus cash back to us, the customer, just for

using their card. We use it to buy a new vehicle each time we get up to that

maximum. The car dealer, say they have never seen anyone accumululate that much

money to take off the cost of a new vehicle.

My debit card isn't as universally accepted as my visa card. In New

Jersey, I was able to pay at some places with my debit card, but not

others. Visa works virtually anywhere on the planet.

Oh yes CC are accepted for payment everywhere, but using them on ATM's were

where folks were saying the big charges occured. That was the only caution. I

know that the exchange rate is much better usually to, for using your CC in

countries other than your own. That has been our experience anyways.

We like GM and Discovery, because both give you cash back, which is what we

prefer. The GM actually gives it towards any new GM vehicle purchase only

though, but that is fine with us, since we have had great experience with any of

them we have ever purchased. Discovery, actually gives you cash back, that you

accumulate.

Hope that helps Steph.

This is why I rccomended purchasing Disney Dollars! No extra charges, the

transaction will come through on your statement as a " gift card " in most

cases and if you have any left over at the end of the trip, you trade it in

for good ol' greenbacks! (Disneyland City Hall also does international

currency exchanges.) And if you don't get them traded back, you have a nice

souveiner from your trip! They're releasing new Pirates of the Carribean

dollars next weekend!
