OK, it was Pi Day yesterday (3.14) so I made a special lunch for the

kidlets. I totally got the idea of making the teeny tiny blueberry pies

from The Vegan Lunchbox (http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/).

You can see the pictures here:

http://ph./photos/browse/623a?c=

You can also see my new batch of sprouts on kidlet #2's hummus and

salad. (Kidlet #1 isn't ready for sprouts yet.) :-)

I found this online about Pi Day... I want to celebrate this next

year. And the little " pies " were really cute!!

Pi Day

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

Pies for a celebration at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Free pie being handed out at the University of WaterlooPi Day and Pi

Approximation Day are two unofficial holidays held to celebrate the

mathematical constant ð (Pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14 in

American date format), due to pi being equal to roughly 3.14.

Sometimes it is celebrated on March 14 at 1:59 p.m. (commonly known

as " Pi Minute " ). If pi is rounded out to seven decimal places, it

becomes 3.1415926, making March 14 at 1:59:26 p.m., " Pi Second " . Pi

Approximation Day may be observed on any of several dates, most often

July 22 (22/7—in European date format—is a popular approximation of

ð).

Pi Day celebrations nearly always include the eating of pie.

Pi Day was first celebrated at the Exploratorium in 1988, with staff

and public marching around one of its circular spaces, and then

consuming fruit pies; the museum has since added pizza pies to its Pi

Day menu. The founder of Pi Day, the " Prince of Pi " , is Larry Shaw,

now retired from the Exploratorium, but still helping out with the

celebrations. They have also recently added the first Pi Day

celebrations in Second Life.

March 14 happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday, and it is common

to sing " Happy Birthday Dear Albert " .
