Guest guest
first thought is that it's the non-vegetarian beef bouillon, granular form. what about tvp beef-flavored. isn't that minced? maybe that would be a good vegetarian substitute. Guest guest
Kathleen: I just realized I never answered you on this, even though I thought I did. :-) I'll reply to the group also so everyone will have this information. There might be other brands, but a couple that I know of -- vegetarian " beef " flavored broth powders are one by McKay's (same brand as the chicken-style) and G. Washington. McKay's comes in a glass jar, and the G. Washington brand is sold in a little box with the broth powder being in little individual packets inside. The " beef broth-like " one is called " Rich Brown " . There are other flavors also. I find both of these products at a local SDA ABC store, but I have seen the G. Washington brand, for a little while, at a local grocery store (but only one particular one, not all of their stores). For some reason, it was in the Jewish foods section. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Kathleen: Well, duh me!!! I misunderstood your question. Now that I've read it again, I see that you don't mean " beef bouillon " . I think by " beef-flavored granules " they must mean a beef-type flavor of dried TVP granules -- you think? Otherwise, something like Morningstar Farms Recipe Crumbles or Boca Burgers for Recipes might also work. Guest guest
Hi Karen & Kathleen, Dixie Diner www.dixiediner.com has a product called Beef Not, which appears to be essentially " beef " flavored TVP. My 13 year-old, who eats nothing but pizza and spaghetti, calls it meat sauce, and loves it. > > I think by " beef-flavored granules " they must mean a beef-type flavor of > dried TVP granules -- you think? I took my hubby there last Saturday and he was surprised at how wonderful it smelled. No smell of rotting meat. I think they sell some organic meat but it gives off no odor like in Safeway. Guest guest
I'm from Vermont. I buy most of my food at the grocery store (Shaws, Market Basket, Price Chopper) but for hard to find items I go to the Co-Op (Natural foods store) During appropriate months, I prefer to go to Farmer's Markets. Once upon a time, I was a vegetable/herb/flower farmer..... Marie in VT

Guest guest
I am in north east Los Angeles. Lucky me I do not have to buy most of the food I consume, but when I do buy it I go to Trader Joes, Asian markets (ranch 99 or similar), and the Pasadena Armenian markets for both produce and dry goods (grains and legumes). I also use our local little mom and pop mexican markets in the neighborhood for tortillas and fresh fruits and veggies. , " Tracey Ward " <traceymosko wrote: > > Where is everyone from and where do you buy most of your food?? >

Guest guest
I don't know how often you get over to Tampa, but they have opened a Wild Oats Store there. We had our dinner there a couple of weeks ago, when we were spending the night in Tampa. It has some good food selections. I bet you'd love it. http://www.wildoats.com/u/find/ The store folks told me that it had only opened recently. They have a great selection in the vegetarian restaurant section too for dine in or to take to go. Judy - Stephanie Thursday, April 05, 2007 4:38 PM Re: Question??? I live in Clearwater.
