Guest guest
I usually stick with the Boca Burger Vegan ones. (Less fat.) I found a small diner here that made them sooooo good! They would microwave them like the instructions said, then throw them on the grill for a few minutes. So I started cooking them in the microwave, then putting them in a skillet and adding a couple of drops of Liquid Smoke to the top of them. As far as the Morningstar Farms variety, they're not bad, but if you buy the spicy black bean variety, they ARE spicy! And I bought them when I wasn't feeling very good. My son loved them however and once this divorce is over and my stomach settles down, I'll give them another shot. On Behalf Of Alyssa Tuesday, April 17, 2007 12:53 PM Meatless Patties Hi all. I am curious about something. I have tried the Boca patties and like them. Gardenburger is another story though! Yuck! I have recently seen mention of Morningstar Farms meatless patties, and yesterday when I was at Wal-Mart, I discovered some more (not sure of the brand) in the produce section. Are either of these any good? Would they happen to be better than Boca? Thanks! -Alyssa
Guest guest
I like alot of boca products. Especially the spicy chicken patties. I LOVE the american grill burger but had to switch because they are not vegan. Haven't had the gardenburger ones, but I do know that there are different flavors and they all taste different. Like with the Boca, I started eating the original vegan burger and it is definitely not as good as the " grilled " ones. Are you looking for a " real hamburger " taste or just a good patty? Don't rule out Gardenburger brand though...the Barbeque riblets, are incredible and you CAN " T tell that they are veggie. My ABSOLUTE favorite veg product is the Mama Mia Meatballs by gardenburger, I use them for pasta, meatball subs etc...they are AMAZING....ahhhh, hope I didn't ramble too much. Guest guest
Relative to the Morningstar, you might want to check to see you're getting the Organic version without GMO's. I think Boca may have similar issues. Box needs to be checked for Organic/non-GMO. I think they use a coloring scheme. Kraft owns Boca now. Morningstar is owned by Kellogg. I've read that Gardenburger may also have GMO's. I guess all of their labels must be read. Oh well. Morningstar info: " The ingredients we use have been approved by the appropriate regulatory authorities and all of our products comply with food labeling requirements in markets where they are sold throughout the world. We recognize that some Worthington Foods consumers may prefer foods that do not contain biotech ingredients, so we offer Morningstar Farms Made with Organic Soy products which are made with non-biotech ingredients. At this time, all of our other Morningstar Farms products contain biotech ingredients. Guest guest
I'll take either the good taste or a good patty. LOL, as long as it doesn't have too bad of an after-taste (That's what I found with the Gardenburgers), I'm good! -Alyssa On Behalf Of Stephanie Tuesday, April 17, 2007 12:34 PM Re: Meatless Patties I like alot of boca products. Guest guest
Alyssa, I like Morningstar Farms veggie burgers best. I think that the one with the most flavor and least after-taste is Morningstar Farms Grillers Prime. I like Morningstar Farms better than Boca, and I agree with you that Gardenburgers are terrible. Guest guest
I love the Gardenburger riblets. But, it may just be the BBQ sauce. Anything would taste great with that sauce. Guest guest
I think the Gardenburger riblets were the first thing my son started eating that he liked. We don't get them very often but he does enjoy having them from time to time with a baked potato and a salad. He's not been that difficult to switch to veggie (at least at home). When I was pregnant with him I couldn't get near the meat department because that was MY morning sickness trigger. So until he was almost 6 he only ate meat that was cooked on a grill. And I didn't grill and the town we lived in didn't have a Burger King so he was pretty much meatless until we met my soon to be ex. He who swears that every meal should be full of meat and steaks should be cooked in 1/2 pound of butter. Not lean steaks either, but the fattiest steaks he could find. He would have left anyway, but he blamed a lot of it on me becoming a vegetarian because at first I couldn't cook meat for anyone. Good riddance to bad rubbish! Guest guest
Thanks a lot Judy. That recipe looks good! I've tried 2 different types of Morningstar chicken, the regular and parmesan. I love the reg stuff on sandwiches, but I cannot eat the parmesan on bread. It's kind of weird with mayo. The nuggets aren't bad either. -Alyssa On Behalf Of wwjd Wednesday, April 18, 2007 8:32 AM Re: Re: Meatless Patties We really like all varieties of the Morningstar farm burger patties. http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/products.aspx?coid=23 & family=363 Their multiple selections of " chicken products " http://www.seeveggiesdifferently.com/products.aspx?coid=23 & family=365 and their " corn dogs " Yummmmmmm.
