I've been lurking here for a few weeks and I wanted to finally introduce myself.

Like Tracy, I live in central PA. I've been vegetarian for almost a year, and

hope to start transitioning to vegan in the next year. I first became vegetarian

when I was 14, and I have been off and on over the years, but until this year, I

never succeeded in remaining vegetarian for more than 3 months at a time. It's

11 months this time, and I am 52. The reason it's so difficult for me when I

have always been philosophically sympathetic to vegetarianism, is that I am a

very, very picky eater who hates many foods intensely, and meat and poultry were

things that I really liked. I hate many vegetables, rice, and mushrooms. But

that still leaves many foods that I like, and I am starting to learn to cook in

a way that works well for me. I no longer miss flesh foods. Cutting out cheese

will be the next big hurdle, but I will do that slowly. I really appreciate all

of the great recipes here. I haven't actually tried any yet, but it's good to

have access to them. I'm glad that you're here, and I enjoy reading the posts.

Karen:

Do you mind sharing where in Central PA? My family is from Shamokin and we

still have a place in Elysburg. I love that area of Pennsylvania. Compared to

over-developed South Florida, it is so green and peaceful!

Hi Karen and Jen,

Sorry for responding before continuing to read the post. Its nice to meet you

ladies. Jen if I may ask....where are the stores you shop at? Ive only been to

S.C. once and while there I went to Wegmans, thats where I found quinoa. I am

looking for a health foods store that sells in bulk, or has unique ingrediants.

Thank you ahead of time.
