Guest guest
At work we've printed out the 16 pages (so far) of reported contaminated animal food (so that we can check all of the food the owners are bringing in with their animals). I figured I would forward the American Veterinary Medical Association's list they have gathered so far. My recommendation is that you bookmark it and check back frequently. http://www.avma.org/aa/menufoodsrecall/products.asp ...:: Lauren ::.. Guest guest
Anyone looking for a new pet food source: Please take a look at Diamond Pet Foods, we have used them for about 7 years now, a good high-quality food at a fair price (before we were paying almost $40/40# bag of Nutro brand - which is now on the " list " and a 40# bag of " Lamb and Rice " Diamond brand is about $22 from our local feed store) They are also a family owned and operated feed business for over 35 years and made in the USA with nothing imported. http://www.diamondpet.com/ Since this recall scare, we began thinking what if? and, we have started mixing our own " food " - consisting of sweet brown rice, carrots and browned gound turkey (all organic) in conjunction with our " dry " Diamond dog food, not only is the bag lasting twice as long - all three of our dogs just absolutely love it (even our picky one!) - each finishing their meal in record time! doc , Lauren Cunningham <irishpisces319 wrote: > > At work we've printed out the 16 pages (so far) of reported contaminated animal food (so that we can check all of the food the owners are bringing in with their animals). Guest guest
I just saw an article about a pig farm in California where melamine residues were found in the pig's urine. Another reason not to eat meat!!! This contamination was supposedly in rice protein imported from China for animal feed. Guest guest
Wasn't Diamond recalled about a year and a half ago? I considered it, but for some reason I never fed it. I was thinking that was probably the reason. Wellness is another good food that's worth looking into. -Alyssa On Behalf Of mendo_medicineman Thursday, April 26, 2007 6:52 PM Re: Animal Owners: Pet Food Recall Anyone looking for a new pet food source: Please take a look at Diamond Pet Foods, we have used them for about 7 years now, a good high-quality food at a fair price (before we were paying almost $40/40# bag of Nutro brand - which is now on the " list " and a 40# bag of " Lamb and Rice " Diamond brand is about $22 from our local feed store) They are also a family owned and operated feed business for over 35 years and made in the USA with nothing imported. http://www.diamondpet.com/ Since this recall scare, we began thinking what if? and, we have started mixing our own " food " - consisting of sweet brown rice, carrots and browned gound turkey (all organic) in conjunction with our " dry " Diamond dog food, not only is the bag lasting twice as long - all three of our dogs just absolutely love it (even our picky one!) - each finishing their meal in record time! doc , Lauren Cunningham <irishpisces319 wrote: > > At work we've printed out the 16 pages (so far) of reported contaminated animal food (so that we can check all of the food the owners are bringing in with their animals). Guest guest
I agree, after looking into a lot of local independent dog food producers locally I found that Wellness has all of the positives that these others offered plus additional nutrients instead of fillers. On their website you can see the ingredients they use in their different products. Alyssa <LyssasSong wrote: Wasn't Diamond recalled about a year and a half ago? Guest guest
Yes, Diamond was recalled for some reason about a year ago. But that's what my best friend feeds all of her dogs and I think they even have a cat food also. Except for the time of the recall, she sticks with it - she has dogs of all breeds and ages and they all thrive on the Diamond. It's just too expensive for me, plus my dogs really like the Pedigree (and I'm helping by buying it because $2 of each purchase goes to the ASPCA).
