Are they chilli pepper flakes or bell pepper? Christie (who has given up on the hunt for liquid smoke which does not seem to be available here at all) Chilli, the label on mine says crushed red pepper. Here's a link for liquid smoke, the international distributors are last on the page. http://www.colgin.com/liquidsmokeretaillocations/ hope this helps. peace, Angela who I am is fine, it's just this body that's disabled! middle age = that time of life when we realize yesterday's sex, drugs and rock and roll are todays memories, prescriptions and golden oldies! Guest guest
Thanks for that link Angela. Unfortunately the liquid smoke is currently out of stock but I'll keep checking back. There were apple, pecan and mesquite flavours - any recommendations? Guest guest
Thanks Amy I was wondering what sort of flavour bell pepper flakes would give. I have crushed chillies which I guess would be the same, although they contain mostly seeds making for a rather hot addition. Christie your very welcome Christie, glad to help. The original hickory flavor's the only one I've tried so far. It's a new addition to my condiment supply along with balsamic vinegar, miso, nutritional yeast............... this and the other recipe sharing groups I'm in have improved my cooking a lot ! peace, Angela who I am is fine, it's just this body that's disabled! middle age = that time of life when we realize yesterday's sex, drugs and rock and roll are todays memories, prescriptions and golden oldies! Bell peppers would probably just add a bit of " earthy " taste, not at all the same.

Oh, and " red pepper flakes " in the store here have a large number of seeds in it too... it's probably actually the same?

Guest guest
Thank you so much to those who replied. I have dried crushed chillies (which contain lots of seeds as well as flakes). I also have dried crushed pepper flakes, ie dried and crushed red (and green) bell peppers. I also have dried chipotle chiles, jars of jalapenos and access to fresh chillies, (African, Birds Eye and Scotch Bonnet) so I'm feeling pretty well-provided for. I just wasn't sure which were required in the recipe :-) Wee, if you would like any chipotle chiles, let me know and I will send you some as I have enough to last me for the next 5 years. BTW I am applying for a course in London at St Barts which runs over 10 days between May and November - perhaps we might meet up sometime?
