Guest guest
I thought you would all appreciate this story... Our small community is holding a health fair this weekend which I am involved in because of my work with family/parent education. Quite some time ago one of the organizers told me that the free lunch at the health fair would be vegetarian: sloppy joes made with tvp. I was thrilled, because besides my immediate family there are no other vegetarians that I know of in my town, and there's a great deal of ignorance on the subject. I praised the organizers for their great idea and have been telling everyone to be sure to try the vegetarian lunch. Yesterday the organizer came to talk to me, and she said, " Are you looking forward to the sloppy joes made with tvp? " I told her I was very excited. Then, in an off-hand way, she said, " We are also adding turkey to them because we were afraid the consistency wouldn't be quite right without it. " I screamed, " NOOOOOOOOO! You can't do that! " She looked hurt and said, " I thought you would be pleased. At least they will be mostly vegetarian!! " Thanks for listening! Guest guest
Talk about ignorance! Mostly vegetarian! Is that like being mostly pregnant? After your objection did they leave out the turkey or put it in? Katie susanbracken <susanbracken wrote: I thought you would all appreciate this story... Guest guest
lol! It is exactly like being mostly pregnant!! They are putting the turkey in; it is too late to change the plan. They said that next time they'll ask me for a recipe. I told them they absolutely could not advertise this as a vegetarian lunch. They think I'm making a big deal out of nothing. Guest guest
Sue, that is so funny! I am asked that quite often, too. Good luck on your transition! It sounds like you are doing great so far. I had someone ask me the other day if I am " allowed to " eat olive oil!! Now that is one thing I would never give up!
