Guest guest
I just put on a pot of split peas which are a favorite of mine. Does anyone have a favorite spice that they have used or any other veggie that compliments the soup? Deanna in Colorado

Her Split Pea soup is excellent IMHO. In this recipe she uses minced onion, crushed garlic cloves, minced celery, carrots sliced or diced. In addition to black pepper she also adds red wine vinegar to taste. I think it may be the vinegar that adds to this soup, at least for me. She also suggests serving the soup wtih a drizzle of sesame oil, a fresh ripe tomato, diced, or freshly minced parsley, although I have never added any of these.
