Guest guest
My money is on the soy being the problem. When I first decided to loose some weight, I tried a diet that contained a lot of soy. I did okay at first but then my stomach got " funny " , I had no appetite, and I started to develop a lot of gas that stayed in me. I had heard about soy causing problems like this so I stopped the diet and started my own partial vegetarian diet (only allowed myself to eat fish, chicken, and cheese) and my problems cleared up. Now I eat soy once or twice a week and am looking for other protein sources as soy just doesn't " sit right " with me. Guest guest
I have heard this before, try to eat less soy based foods and see if that helps. Just a thought. It bothers 2 friends of mine in the same way as you. Just an idea. Guest guest
Are you taking a pro-biotic to keep the flora and fauna in your intestines in balance. Changing your diet can get your system out of balance and that definately can cause an upset stomach and various other things, too. We have always eaten a lot of whole grains (wheat pasta, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, etc). We are eating a lot more fresh fruit & vegetables and have added some tofu and other soy-based meat substitutes. We were already using soy milk and TVP on a regular basis for several years. Around the same time as we stopped eating meat, I started having problems with upset stomach. Its not terrible and I don't feel nauseous, but I don't have much of an appetite (nothing sounds good) and it doesn't improve after eating (or not eating). My husband hasn't had any problem. Guest guest
definitely could be soy products bothering you or a sudden increase in fiber. Try to go w/o soy for a week and see if it gets better. If not then you know it's not the soy... and can move on from there. There are numerous posts and articles about carageenen (spelling?) which is added to soy milk being a source of problems for some people also. , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > I have heard this before, try to eat less soy based > foods and see if that helps. Guest guest
Also, when you stop eating meat you could be producing too much stomach acid for a while. If too much stomach acid is a problem try drinking a tsp of lemon juice in 1/2 cup water. Lemon juice is alkaline in the stomach. -- Kat_Doyle (@earthlink.net)
Guest guest
Mine was *similar*, I wouldn't call it an upset stomach but all the cravings I had (all the time) went away. After about two weeks of no animal products, I never really had the desire to eat. More like the " driving force " that " I just have it now " kinda thing went away. When I look back, I can see that I didn't lose my appetite. I believe that once all the chemicals from the meat got out of my system, I no longer had the desire to eat all the time. Now, I eat according to the way my body actually needs to be fed not by the chemicals telling me I need more food (empty food). Just my experience, hope it helps.
