Guest guest
Hi all, Anyone here from the Portland, OR. area? This past weekend was the NW Veg Fest, and it was great. This was my first time attending (the 3rd year they have done it), and I was highly impressed. Lots of info, food samples (rice cheese is still nasty!), classes and all that fun stuff. I really enjoyed the fact that they had tons of samples there, so you could try things that you might be holding off on buying because it might be yucky. My BF and I had planned to go out to lunch afterwards, and I don't think we would have if my sister hadn't called and asked to meet up We were stuffed! I went ahead and signed up to be a member of the NW group at the event, which it turn they handed me this big back of more samples (full sized ones even) to try. I even got a bag of vegan marshmellows, so I'll let you know how that goes.... They have a good website to check out, and if you are in the area next year when they hold it, make an attempt to go. I was glad I did! I hope to help out next year. I think the website is www.nwveg.org but if your google it, it will come up. Just so happy, I had to share Libby
Guest guest
Is there an email list I could be on to be notified of next years event? I'm about 3 hours south and would love to go. Guest guest
Hi Libby - We're in Salem, but I hadn't heard anything about it until Saturday night - which is too bad, because we would have loved to go! Sam - I found a website that seems to sponsor the annual event, as well as other activities. They do have a website and a calendar of events - http://www.nwveg.org/Calendar.html Are you around Roseburg? Torey

Guest guest
Torey, Have you been to Kwan's in Salem? Try the strawberry mock chicken some day, sounds crazy, tastes awesome! I'm in Silverton OR, but work in Portland. I'm hoping to make it to some of the potlucks they have with the veg club. If you sign up as a family it's $35, plus you get a subscription to Vegtimes (I think, might be one of the other magazines out there). Any other Portland area peeps out there lurking, or SW WA? Guest guest
My husband has been to Kwan's. We don't go out much at all, but it's on our 'next place to go'. I'll definitely try the SMC - it just sounds yummy! We went to Mongolian Grill for Mother's Day (it was there or Kwan's, and they had a big reception going on at Kwan's, so we went to the Grill instead). I love Silverton - we almost bought a house out there the last time we moved. We usually try to make it to Homer Days. Now that our boys are a little older we'll probably take part in some of the other activities, too (it seems like both Silverton and Dallas have more family-friendly stuff going on then Salem does!)
