Guest guest
I lost my information booklet that came with it and made brown rice this evening in it. I followed the bag directions and 1 1/2 hours later it is still not even close to being done. I know many of you have this one what is the ratio again for brown rice? Thanks a lot. Guest guest
thanks Pat I went by the bag which says 2.5 cups of water per cup of rice and it never made it. I hate wasting food. Do you know if that would work with other rices also? Steph Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. Visit the Auto Green Center. Guest guest
I used the same ratio for Basmati and it did fine. You got me hungry for rice. I think I will go make some rice now! Guest guest
I finally wrote on my B & D steamer with a sharpie: 2 cups rice 2-1/2 cups water 62 minutes I usually add a couple of tbsps wild rice to the bottom of the measuring cup when I am measuring the rice. -- Kat_Doyle (@earthlink.net)
Guest guest
2.5-3 cups water per cup of rice. If you are cooking in a steamer/rice cooker, put 2.5 cups in the rice bowl with the rice and let it absorb the rest in steam. If cooking in a conventional rice cooker, put all 3 cups of water with the rice. Katie Steph <mrswalp29 wrote: I lost my information booklet that came with it and made brown rice this evening in it. Guest guest
Pat, I doubled the recipe so I could make rice for breakfast so I put 5 cups water to 2 cups rice. It did not boil over or even cook. I know before when I doubled the recipe it worked but again I forgot the amoount of water I used. Steph Don't be flakey. Get Mail for Mobile and always stay connected to friends. Guest guest
I haven’t paid attention to the amount of time it takes. I usually put it on then go off to do something else. When the water is gone the sensor switches from cook to warm. Last night DH revealed that he doesn’t care for the brown rice @ the same stage of doneness that I do. I think it is perfect when it is slightly chewy. I will try it again using ½ c more water to see if I can get it softer – and I will check the time. Guest guest
Using some type of oil or butter/margarine while cooking will prevent boil-overs in rice cookers. I usually use extra virgin olive oil when I make rice in my rice cooker. About a tablespoon or so usually does the trick for two cups of rice. If I'm cooking more than that, I use more oil. , " Pat " <a0003539 wrote: > > Did your cooker boil over with 2 ½ cups? > > > > Pat
