Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this, Carolyn; the timing was great for me. I have been struggling with some pretty strong emotions recently, and desires for some of the old comfort foods has been strong. It helps to hear other stories, other experiences. Again, thanks...Valerie tncnavarra wrote: Hi everyone, I've been having a hard time this week and I just thought I'd share what's happening..... .....I was staying raw by sheer will power each day. I was shaky, I was weepy, I was emotional, I longed to eat, eat, eat. I responded by eating more raw food and eating earlier in the day than was usual for me. Finally, I emailed Elchanan for help. We talked by phone yesterday and he explained that my need for more fuel had caught up with me. I was dealing with more emotions than usual after seeing my mom, and that required more fuel. I have young children that need me and that requires fuel. Elchanan assured me that my body's signals were quite normal and that my response, eating more raw foods, was completely appropriate. Just hearing that helped me feel better. Mail Stay connected, organized, and protected. Take the tour

Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestion, Bob, dates do help when the sweet craving kicks in; however, I do have to admit, a large sweet date does not immediately pop into my head when craving something hot, savory, preferably with melted cheese.... One thing I've noticed is that even a few minutes of exercise, rebounding, walking, tai chi, yoga, etc., can be enough to break my mind away from the cravings. That is, if I can get myself moving and past feeling sorry for myself (my Eeyore moments...) :-) Valerie Bob wrote: Hi Valerie.. one thing I find that has been working for me lately, when dealing with emotions and finding a craving for old comfort foods, I eat a large, fresh date..it helps me. all the best, Bob

I felt that I should post a week myself..so here is what I have been doing so far. My biggest problem is that being kosher, we don't mix meats and dairy...and I live with my parents while I am landscaping their yard and dad is a carnie. Cheesy Potates, Salad, green beans Meat (-less) taco's with all the fixings (I use that new 40% less salt taco seasoning) V-8 soup, hard rolls ( if you want the recipe let me know, its great and easy) Large salad, with all the fresh vegis and such, whole wheat bread Black bean chilie, sour cream and cheese and croutons, cinamon rolls Stuffed twice Baked potatoes, cheese, mushrooms, etc, salad Soba noodles with lots of vegis. Ok...I also eat a ton of fresh fruit during the day. But thats my " basic " week. Thanks again everyone for some great idea's !
