Guest guest
Sorry I have been out of the loop for awhile. My computer was in need of some R & R, actually, I needed a new firewall. I have a question. I have been looking online and can't seem to fine what I am looking for. My sister is worried about her son. He is starting K in Sept and she is concerned he is too hyper and might be labeled with ADHD. What I am reading online is kinda confusing but it seems that certain foods can help calm him down and that he might be lacking magnesium. Has anyone decreased hyperness with diet and natural herbs?? Thanks, Tracey
Guest guest
I have a child who has sensory issues. I always thought it was ADD but it wasn't. I think nutrition is great and can help out a lot especially if you get rid of sugar, white flour and processed junk. The other thing is the doctor should be aware of the struggles and maybe consider testing. My son was not tested and did some odd and sometimes dangerous behavior in K and 1st then the school finally did some testing. Makes a world of difference to the parents, teachers and mostly the child. Steph Get the free toolbar and rest assured with the added security of spyware protection. Guest guest
When my son was first diagnosed as ADHD at 7, we tried Ritalin first. Knew it was a failure when I went to get a bag of potatoes out of the drawer we kept them in and there were half a dozen pills under the bag! He blamed the cat... so I tried some homeopathic stuff for awhile. Valerian Root helped him and he drank Chamomile tea at bedtime. Finally he refused that also so we tried Concerta and that made him feel " off " too. He's 16 now and has learned to manage most of the time without any help. You might try to find a homeopathic doctor in your area that you could consult with. We also took him off of sugar for awhile, but that was mostly my ex husband's idea. Guest guest
Artificial coloring in foods and medicine can also cause hyper activity. Trying to cut those out of the diet might help. A lot of times " sugar " is to blame, but it's actually the artificial color that goes along with the sugar that can be the problem.
Guest guest
Wheat does it to my 8 year old grandson. As long as he doesn't get any, he is fairly calm and fun to be with. When he eats wheat he is bouncing off the walls and he drives me crazy! Katie Libby Mung <Charming12u wrote: Artificial coloring in foods and medicine can also cause hyper activity. Guest guest
Sounds like a good idea of your ex husband to take your son off sugare. Even if it didn't help wth his ADHD it would have done his overall health a lot of good. There is way too much sugar in our food these days.
