Guest guest
Hey gang. Just some " stuff " i wanted to share...thoughts and concerns really. Thanks for reading. When I first joined this group, I had just completed 7 days on the Master Cleanse. I stopped eating meat, but continued with dairy. I have eaten meat a few times since then..(Since early April) (bites of this or that, or sandwiches with meat in them....otherwise, it's not appetizing to me at all, especially ground beef, the thought/taste/smell/texture of it makes me feel physically ill) As I prepare for another round of the cleanse, I'm having some thoughts about wanting to completely eliminate meat, and possibly dairy as well....this will be SO much harder to do than giving up meat was. I love milk, cheese and yogurt and eggs!!!!... My reason for giving it up would be mostly because it's mucus producing, and I have asthma... just seems to make sense NOT to use it. I do feel that if I had a local, small farm resource for milk, cheese, butter etc., I wouldnt' mind keeping it in my diet. I do not like " pretend " cheese or milk either...I think I've tried them all. The exceptions, I think, would be rice milk or coconut milk on my shredded wheat in teh morning, but I couldn't drink a glass of the stuff! My other issue, is that I am not eating enough vegetables..*L* I don't have any problem with fruit at all!!!! Veggies? They allude me. I have a very limited income, and fresh veggies just seem so far out of reach at times, thankfully with garden season approaching full swing, that wont' be an issue for long, but it's still a challenge..I find myself eating LOTS of homemade veggie soup that I make in huge batches and freeze. I think that's all for now...i look forward to the conversation that my message might prompt!! Thanks, Marie in Vermont.
Guest guest
Marie, It is my observation that you can buy tons of veggies for the price you pay for cheese, yogurt and milk. Sandwich meat is one of the most expensive food items you can buy. As you become more accustomed to the Vegetarian lifestyle you will become aware of how expensive animal products are. Not only the $$cost but to your health. You might want to reconsider the cost and time of the 'master cleanse'and instead take some herbal teas including Ginger/clover. It will cost you pennies and will be natural and good for your system. Congratulations on your new life choice. Sending smiles and hugs your way Deanna in Colorado ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ , " atlanticrose.geo " <mariepollard wrote: > > Hey gang. > Just some " stuff " i wanted to share...thoughts and concerns really. > Thanks for reading. > > When I first joined this group, I had just completed 7 days on the > Master Cleanse. > > I stopped eating meat, but continued with dairy. Guest guest
Deanna: The little meat that I ate was not something I purchased myself, but was served elsewhere....however I have noticed that not buying meat does help the grocery bill! The master cleanse uses ingredients I already have at home...so cost isn't an issue really....and I'm working on eliminating some allergies and also asthma issues. Thanks for your reply... Guest guest
Marie, I used to drink milk every single morning as soon as I got up, and then some later on, too. I ate a lot of cheese and had yogurt and cottage cheese almost every day. Once I realized that it was so bad for your heart health, I was okay about giving it up. Once I gave it up for a week or so, I never craved it. The only dairy that I eat now is an occasional slice of pizza when stuck with it at work. As for the veggies, if you cannot afford the fresh ones, at least try to add some frozen ones to your diet. I think that some of those steamer bags of veggies taste very fresh. Just don't cook them in the bag, because that cannot be too healthy. If you watch the sales and coupons, sometimes you can get these very cheaply. Don't be afraid to ask if others will give you the coupons which they do not use or trade with you so that you can get more of the ones that you need. You would be surprised how many coupons you can accumulate if you ask. There have even been coupons out lately for one brand of organic veggies, so that really helps. If you live near someone that gardens, try to barter with them for some veggies. Everyone has a skill to offer, so just think about what you do well. I shop well with coupons, so I gather things that I get for free with coupons and trade them for veggies. I don't eat a lot of packaged goods, but there are certainly others that welcome such foods. Even if you are a person that is basically house bound, you can still trade a service like putting together a scrapbook, cooking, baking, sewing, mending, babysitting, etc. Most people would be glad to stop by with some veggies for you if you have something to offer in return, even if it is just a batch of cookies. Hope this helps! Mary in MI
Guest guest
Mary: Thank you...I plan to stock up on veggies this summer...buying them isn't always the problem, the problem seems to be that I don't eat enough of them. Guest guest
I have never heard of this lemonade cleanse fast either, but I would like to suggest that too much fresh lemon daily can irritate the bladder. Usually the juice from one lemon is too much. Guest guest
I've done the cleanse and the lemon juice (or limes in my case) didn't irritate my bladder. There is more to it than lemons & water...if it hasn't already been posted the link to the master cleanse site & message board is: http://therawfoodsite.com/mastercleanse.htm On 6/21/07, genny_y2k <genny_y2k wrote: > > I have never heard of this lemonade cleanse fast either, but I would > like to suggest that too much fresh lemon daily can irritate the > bladder. Guest guest
Genny: I think that like the protein debate, there are two or more camps on anything dietary.... You could be right about the lemon juice...i've never heard that... I'll have to look it up.
