Guest guest
Watch your local grocery sales paper each week. There are always produce items on sale. I write out a shopping list for items on sale at each store that I want and make the rounds all the same outing on one day. It doesn't take long at all if you have you list made out ahead of time. I save a ton this way. Stock up on staples this way also. Also shop local produce stands and farmers markets. They have great prices. I don't find veggies, other than things like artichokes, asparagus, etc.. to be that bad in price and those I specifically look and buy only when on sale or at Sam's Club. Sam's Club has great prices for produces too.... Grow some veggies in your garden or in pots if you have no area to put in a garden. Use the www.squarefootgardening.com method for a super easy, high yeild garden and only takes a small area. You can even make a raised handicapp garden using this method. How-to's are on the website. My mom loves to stop at places where they have huge fields of produce or fruit tree orchards. She knocks on the door of the house right beside it and 9 times out of 10 they let her pick a box full of what ever they grow for about 1/2 or less of the price that it is in stores. Grocery stores will give you banana boxes for free to use for this or the bakery dept will also give you 5 gallon buckets for free. They get frosting in them to use on cakes they make and always have an abundance. Also click on this http://www.pickyourown.org/ It gives you sites where you can go and pick your own produce and it is a lot less expensive. There are plenty of places in every state, if you click on them as well as in many other countries around the world. This site will tell you where they are and their info. Enjoy those fresh veggies and fruit, Judy
