> Where is the best place to purchase dates?

here's some sources:

The Date People

760-359-3211

no email of which I am aware

Bautista Family Organic Dates

760-396-2337

Ask for Alicia (A-lee-see-ah) The family is Hispanic, she speaks

excellent

English.

Oasis Date Gardens oasisdategardens.com

I've personally used the first one; spoke with Jamie...good stuff..

How much should I expect to

> pay?

Varies by type of date ordered, and where you live (for shipping...)

for me, in FL, shipping from Calif...it comes out to about $4/lb.

> How long do they last?

they last until you eat them...;=) seriously, it depends upon how

you store them, etc..etc..vacuum-packed in jars works great.

inexpensive (~$58) vacuum packer from WalMart is what I use..

If I buy a bulk order, how long will they

> keep? they'll probably keep for months in vacuum-packed

jars...just jars with the " air " removed...

there are earlier posts from both Elchanan and me on the topic...

all the best,

Bob

Several years ago I went to Israel and really loved the dates there. I ate

pounds of them. Purchased them at a kibbutz.

However, back home here in the States, I cannot seem to find dates from

Israel. Now, they seem to grow tons of dates in Israel so they must be sold

somewhere. But WHERE?????

, in Northern Illinois

The best place to get dates is from Hadley Fruit Orchards in Cabazon,

California. Their website is: www.hadleyfruitorchards.com.

No matter where you purchase dates, they are rather spendy. My husband and I

have purchased dates from these people, albeit, we did it in person. They are

so good, the dates I mean. The service was excellent also.

The only thing I wish they would have, is a hard copy catalog. I love looking

at them, and my son, Jeremy loves catalogs even more than I do. When Sears

stopped producing their big book catalog, was a sad day for us. We still have

one, and it is getting rather tattered.
